Reporting to the Digital Accessibility Lead within the IT Corporate Systems team, this role offers the opportunity to influence accessibility outcomes across the Bank and support delivery of our Accessibility Action Plan.
As a Digital Accessibility Specialist, you'll work with stakeholders across technology and business teams to embed accessibility into digital products, services and ways of working. You'll provide expert guidance on accessibility standards, testing, governance and compliance, while helping build capability and promote inclusive design practices across the organisation.

What You'll Do:

  • Support accessibility reviews, audits and assessments across digital products, web applications, documents and services, including testing with assistive technologies (such as screen readers, screen magnification and speech recognition software)  and accessibility evaluation tools.

  • Assist project teams in identifying and implementing practical solutions to address accessibility issues.

  • Partner with disabled users and user research teams to help ensure products and services meet accessibility, usability and inclusive design requirements.

  • Support development and maintenance of accessibility frameworks, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Assist in monitoring accessibility metrics and preparing reports to track compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Contribute to digital accessibility awareness, training and capability-building initiatives.

  • Support the promotion of inclusive design practices and shared ownership of accessibility across product, delivery and business teams.

  • Stay informed about emerging accessibility legislation, regulations, standards, technologies and industry best practice, and contribute relevant insights to support accessibility initiatives across the organisation.

Essential skills required:

  • Strong knowledge of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), AS EN 301 549, inclusive design principles and UX best practices.

  • Understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA), Disability Standards, and accessibility guidance published by the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC).

  • Extensive experience in digital accessibility reviews, testing and audits.

  • Experience using assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools.

  • Ability to identify accessibility barriers and recommend effective, practical solutions.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and consulting skills.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience supporting accessibility governance, compliance and assurance activities.

  • Experience delivering accessibility training and awareness programs.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications such as IAAP CPACC, WAS or CPWA in accessibility or a related discipline.
