Since 2011, THE ICONIC has redefined the future of retail in Australia and New Zealand. As the #1 fashion e-commerce destination in the region, our platforms (Retail, Marketplace and Services) provide an inspiring and seamless end-to-end customer experience. We Dream Big through collaboration and innovation, and are supported to bring incredible ideas to life. We believe in making a positive difference by bringing on the future of shopping to our customers through the power of fashion, sports, home and beauty.

About the role

This is not a traditional brand role. As Director of Brand & Market Engagement, you will own the full brand ecosystem, from masterbrand strategy and content to PR, sponsorships and partnerships and be directly accountable for how brand investment translates into business performance. You'll lead a high-performance creative and content engine, partner with CRM and Performance teams to drive customer acquisition, frequency and lifetime value, and ensure every channel works as a connected growth system. Reporting to the CMO, this is a senior leadership role for someone who is equally fluent in brand storytelling and commercial outcomes.

  • Own the brand strategy end-to-end and lead the masterbrand platform, social and content engine, PR and earned media, sponsorships, ambassador strategy and the internal creative team.
  • Turn brand into commercial growth - connect brand investment to customer acquisition, purchase frequency and CLV through a clear ROI mindset
  • Build a high-performance content and creative engine, evolve the internal team to deliver faster, smarter, AI-enabled production with performance informed creativity
  • Partner across CRM and Performance and operate as a true growth partner to lifecycle, retention and performance media teams
  • Own sponsorships as growth channels, transform partnerships from awareness plays into acquisition and commercial drivers
  • Drive consumer PR and cultural relevance, elevate earned media into a growth lever that drives conversation, consideration and new customer acquisition
  • Lead with commercial discipline and own brand investment with a clear path from spend to outcomes; work closely with the CFO and leadership to prioritise high-impact initiatives

What Success Looks like…

  • Proven track record in brand leadership with demonstrated commercial accountability: you know how brand drives revenue, not just awareness
  • Systems thinker who can connect brand, CRM, performance and partnerships into one engine
  • Equal parts creative and analytical: you balance instinct with data and love both
  • Experienced operator who builds teams, processes and outputs that scale
  • Strong stakeholder leadership confident holding your own with CFO, CEO, CCO and performance teams
  • Cultural intelligence: you know how to make a brand part of culture, not just campaigns
  • Experience leading content and creative teams through AI-enabled
  • You've owned a brand P&L or brand investment budget with direct accountability to revenue or CLV outcomes
  • You've built or scaled sponsorship and partnership programs as genuine acquisition channels
  • You've led earned media strategies that drove measurable brand demand signals (share of search, organic traffic uplift, new customer acquisition)
