Your Team
The role sits within the Line 2 Risk function and reports to the Group Chief Risk Officer. Line 2 Risk forms part of the broader Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance (LGRC) business unit, a high‑performing team committed to delivering at pace while operating in alignment with CFS’s purpose and values.
Your Responsibilities
Lead a small team of risk professionals and working collaboratively across Risk, Compliance and business functions to enable effective risk management practices, leveraging technology to deliver continuous improvement, simplification and increased quality and effectiveness.
Develop and maintain the risk frameworks and policies for CFS, ensuring effective implementation and alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
Develop, improve and maintain appropriate systems, tools and processes to measure and report key risk metrics to senior management and Boards
Maintain the risk taxonomy to categorise and classify risks within the organisation, enabling a consistent approach to risk identification, assessment, and management.
Oversee the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) process for the organisation, working with Business and Risk colleagues to establish risk tolerance levels and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Define and maintain the risk capability framework and enhance the risk capability within the organisation by providing training, guidance, and support to staff on risk management practices and tools.
Maintain and improve the enterprise approach to monitoring and assessing risk culture and conduct, including promoting a strong risk culture and fostering a proactive and disciplined approach to risk management at all levels.
Deliver Board and Risk Committee reporting with data‑driven insights on key risk metrics, emerging risks, and the effectiveness of risk management strategies.
Support and maintain the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and operational resilience framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
Your Capability and Experience
Extensive experience designing and implementing operational risk frameworks, methodologies, and taxonomies within financial services, with strong knowledge of APRA prudential standards.
Significant experience in senior operational risk roles, supported by relevant risk management qualifications (e.g. CRMP, FRM).
Proven delivery of Risk Culture, Conduct, and Risk Appetite (RAS) programs aligned to business strategy and regulatory expectations.
Strong capability in producing data‑driven risk insights, thematics, and Board‑level reporting, underpinned by robust data quality governance.
Demonstrated experience identifying, assessing, and managing emerging risks across the enterprise.
Practical expertise in Business Continuity Planning and operational resilience frameworks (CPS 230), aligned to regulatory and industry best practice.
Accomplished leader with experience managing teams of up to 15, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving continuous process improvement.
