THE ROLE

The Netflix Marketing team is seeking a multi-faceted marketing leader with expertise in the ANZ region to oversee cross-functional Marketing across these markets (title marketing, publicity, social, photo & AV, and production). This role will report into the VP of APAC Marketing.

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring Marketing leader who demonstrates enthusiasm for Netflix and has the intellectual curiosity and emotional intelligence to effectively lead and collaborate with a diverse and talented team, as well as other ANZ and global leaders.

They will manage a local team responsible for creating and executing marketing strategies leveraging our brand and content to drive awareness, engagement and conversation that puts Netflix to be in the cultural zeitgeist and at the heart of Aussie and Kiwi culture. They will also be a part of the APAC marketing leadership team, and will work closely with their colleagues across the region. The leader will bring sharp, sophisticated, and innovative thinking to the team while focusing on operational excellence both internally (execution, cross-functional collaboration) and externally (bold creative assets, holistic consumer campaigns, & beneficial partnerships). 

The Director of Marketing, ANZ will be based in Sydney.


Success Factors

  • Strategic Marketer that can orchestrate across disciplines: Experience in the creation and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies independently, and can orchestrate transversely across disciplines reporting into them (Title Marketing, Social marketing, Events, Publicity, Photo & AV studio) and those not reporting directly to them (Consumer Products, Partner Marketing, Brand, Media Strategy and Buying, etc)
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Leverage data-based decisions and in-channel analysis to ensure campaigns are cost-effective, allocating resources effectively across campaigns and channels to maximize ROI. Ability to analyze both market trends and customer insights to identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and member joy.
  • Excellent Leadership Skills: Coach and empower team members, foster a collaborative and productive work environment to achieve goals. Has proven ability to inspire a diverse set of functional leaders. Leaders at Netflix are not top-down managers. Experience & Skills

  • A history of strong team leadership.  A leader who is highly skilled at cross-functional collaboration, someone who feels challenged and energized by the entertainment industry's deep transformation over the last decade, a leader who understands the value of diverse experiences and backgrounds and has a track record of building inclusive teams. The ideal candidate will have experience working within intricate global or regional structures, with a proven ability to navigate complex, cross-functional teams and environments.
  • An independent thinker. Capable of self-motivating, developing strategies from the ground up, and thrive with the level of freedom & accountability we offer our employees. This leader must be able to operate in an ambiguous environment and to connect autonomously with a vast network of collaborators seeking to understand how Marketing can holistically impact our business.
  • Well-versed in integrated marketing strategies. The leader will be  trained in combining digital/social marketing, offline media and experiential activations to create powerful and holistic campaigns. A creative and idea-oriented mind who can leverage powerful cultural insights to produce earned media results as the basis of our marketing efforts.
  • Innovation and AI. The leader is committed to the evolution of marketing in an AI-enabled world. This individual will help take Netflix Marketing to a new level, and continuously searches for new ways to engage consumers and executes disruptive, world-class campaigns that position Netflix and its offerings as must-haves and best in class.
  • An entertainment fan. The leader understands and can articulate the power of entertainment to transform behaviours and influence the cultural zeitgeist.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will set and lead the ANZ marketing strategy to have the most amount of business impact, leveraging market and audience insights, content programming and brand positioning
  • You will lead and launch unique and innovative Title Marketing campaigns for our local shows and films and import titles from other markets that resonate with Australian and NZ audiences
  • You will work closely with the local Partnerships team responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and execution of local commercial and brand partnerships
  • Cross-functional Excellence. You will serve as a key voice in aligning marketing with other functional leaders in the market (e.g. Content, Comms, Global Affairs, Advertising Sales, Business Development, and other key regional and global stakeholders)
