The Director of Product Design plays a critical role in translating strategy into experiences that drive adoption, engagement, and differentiation across Domain’s product suite. By setting the design vision and ensuring it aligns with business objectives, this role makes sure every product decision reinforces the broader strategy, whether that’s strengthening our position in Commercial, growing Residential, or building credibility in Software (SaaS) products.
Through the leadership of Domani’s Design team, the role must ensure consistency and efficiency at scale, enabling faster delivery of new features while maintaining a cohesive brand and user experience. By making our tools intuitive and user-centred, design supports the strategy of deepening customer reliance on our platforms.
Finally, the role acts as a bridge between product, engineering, marketing, and research, embedding design thinking into cross-functional decision making. This ensures our strategy isn’t just aspirational, but operational every initiative is tested with users, validated with data, and implemented in a way that balances speed with quality.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Design Leadership
- Shape design with purpose by defining and leading the overall product design vision in close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Data and other cross functional teams. Ensure alignment on both user needs and business objectives.
- The design function contributes meaningfully to business outcomes such as user retention, engagement, conversion, and revenue growth.
High-Quality, Scalable User Experiences
- Products consistently deliver cohesive, accessible, and high-performing user experiences, even under high usage or complex user flows.
- Design quality is measurable and visible, with consistent user satisfaction across key journeys.
- Scalable design systems and patterns are embedded across teams and adopted consistently, enabling speed and consistency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Design is fully integrated into cross-functional squads, with healthy collaboration rituals in place across Product, Engineering, and Data.
- Stakeholders see design as a problem solving partner, not just a service function
- The team contributes early in product discovery and influences prioritisation and roadmap decisions
Essential:
- Product Design Experience: 10+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, and 5 years in a related management role.
- Bachelor’s degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects with a focus on managing user-centred designers and strategic thinking to push the development of human centred design within an organisation.
- Experience working in agile development environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., product managers, engineers).
- Experience with design systems and contributing to the development and maintenance of a design system.
- Knowledge of data analytics tools and methods to inform design decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence decision makers
- Experience in leading or mentoring teams of product designers, with a specific focus on: managing the delivery of design for products and operations of product design teams (Quality, Consistency, Impact)
