About the Role

We are seeking a strategic, commercially driven Director of Sales to lead our Enterprise and Mid-Market sales team and serve as the senior Attentive leader on the ground in Australia. This role goes well beyond traditional sales management. While your direct reports will be the sales team, you will be expected to operate as the de facto regional leader for Attentive in Australia, taking ownership of the region’s performance, reputation and growth trajectory as the General Manager.

Australia is home to several cross-functional teams including Customer Success, Customer Support, Implementation and Sales Development, each with line management based in the UK or US. You will work closely with these teams in a matrix capacity,  influencing priorities, driving alignment and ensuring the Australian market receives a cohesive, joined-up experience across all functions. You will be the connective tissue between these teams locally and their respective leaders globally whilst reporting directly to the VP & GM for International who is based in the UK.

The ideal candidate combines a strong sales leadership track record with the commercial maturity and cross-functional instincts of a regional leader. You will play a key role in transitioning the region to a multi-product platform strategy while building a high-performing, accountable culture across the Australian operation.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Act as the senior Attentive leader in Australia, taking full ownership of the region’s commercial performance, market presence and strategic direction
  • Operate with a regional leader mindset,  proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and operational improvements across the entire APAC operation, not just sales
  • Directly lead and manage the sales team to consistently meet or exceed revenue targets
  • Develop and execute sales strategies tailored to the Australian and APAC market that align with Attentive’s global objectives
  • Drive the transition from a single-product SMS motion to a multi-product platform strategy encompassing SMS, Email and AI products
  • Build and maintain a deep understanding of Attentive’s product suite, competitive landscape and market trends to effectively position solutions
  • Establish and maintain rigorous forecasting, pipeline management and deal review processes
  • Set clear, measurable expectations and build a culture of accountability, coaching and continuous improvement within the sales team
  • Build strong working relationships with the Australia-based Customer Success, Customer Support, Implementation and Sales Development teams, influencing priorities and ensuring alignment even without direct line management
  • Act as the local coordination point across all functions, ensuring the customer experience in Australia is seamless from prospect through to long-term retention
  • Partner with functional leaders in the UK and US to ensure Australian team priorities are understood, resourced and integrated into global planning
  • Develop and strengthen executive-level relationships with strategic clients and key accounts across the Australian & APAC market
  • Represent Attentive at industry events, client engagements and in the broader Australian market to build brand credibility and pipeline
  • Serve as the primary escalation point and decision-maker on the ground for day-to-day regional matters
  • Provide regional context and market intelligence to global leadership to inform company-wide strategy and investment decisions

Your Expertise

  • 8+ years of B2B enterprise SaaS sales experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior sales leadership role managing teams of quota-carrying sellers
  • Demonstrated ability to operate beyond a pure sales remit, comfortable influencing cross-functional teams, navigating matrix structures and taking ownership of broad regional outcomes
  • Track record of developing and executing sales strategies that consistently deliver against ambitious targets in a high-growth environment
  • Experience leading a multi-product sales motion or transitioning a team from single-product to platform selling is highly desirable
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build and maintain relationships with C-suite decision-makers and senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build, coach and scale high-performing sales teams with a strong emphasis on accountability and development
  • Excellent operational and analytical capabilities, rigorous on pipeline, forecasting and data-driven decision-making
  • Strong commercial acumen and business judgement, with the ability to think strategically about market positioning, competitive dynamics and growth levers
  • Excellent structured communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Deep understanding of the Australian market landscape and buyer behavior within the enterprise and mid-market space is a strong advantage
