Company Description

About Us

Founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, Qantas has grown to be Australia’s largest regional, domestic, and international airline. Qantas has a range of subsidiary businesses that support the overall operations of the Group. The Qantas Group’s main business is the transportation of customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.

Job Description

  • Shape and maintain Qantas’ enterprise‑wide target‑state architecture and capability roadmaps.
  • Lead architectural governance, embedding standards and guardrails across domains.
  • Permanent, Full-time opportunity located Qantas Head Campus in Mascot

Technology is at the heart of how the Qantas Group delivers for our customers, people and shareholders. As we modernise, simplify and invest in the future, the right architectural foundations are critical to enabling safe, reliable and scalable solutions across the Group.

As an Enterprise Architect, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future‑state technology landscape for Qantas. Working horizontally across multiple domains, you’ll translate strategy into cohesive capability roadmaps, reference architectures and pragmatic solution designs that maximise customer, operational and commercial outcomes. Your work will directly influence how the Group modernises legacy systems, accelerates simplification and adopts emerging technologies.

Acting as the integrator across Domain Architects, delivery teams and senior technology leaders, you’ll guide architecture decisions, uncover cross‑domain synergies, and ensure our investments align with group‑wide guardrails, standards and long‑term strategic goals. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role where your strategic thinking and technical depth will shape the way Qantas continues to innovate and grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and promote enterprise architecture strategies, standards and integrated target‑state roadmaps that enable Qantas’ technology and business strategy.
  • Produce reference models across business, information, application, integration, infrastructure and security architectures to drive coherent design outcomes.
  • Lead enterprise‑level architectural governance, embedding decision frameworks, guardrails and compliance practices across domains.
  • Shape major initiatives early in planning and identifying cross‑domain opportunities, trade‑offs and investment implications to inform executive decision‑making.
  • Provide end‑to‑end architectural oversight for high‑value transformation programs, ensuring alignment to enterprise standards and realising measurable business benefits.
  • Drive technology modernisation and rationalisation by reducing duplication, retiring legacy platforms and uplifting resilience and sustainability.
  • Evaluate and support pilots of emerging technologies, enabling innovation through proof‑of‑concepts and structured experimentation.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear narratives for executives, stakeholders and delivery teams, facilitating workshops that balance safety, commercial and operational needs.
  • Identify systemic risks across cyber, resilience, safety and obsolescence and embed mitigations within architectural designs.
  • Mentor Domain and Solution Architects, uplifting architectural capability, tooling proficiency and standards across the practice.

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years’ experience in Enterprise, Domain or Solution Architecture within large, regulated environments.
  • Proven ability to define future‑state architectures and translate strategy into actionable roadmaps and standards.
  • Strong systems thinking and governance capability across business, data, application, integration, infrastructure and security domains.
  • Experience driving tech modernisation, cloud adoption and legacy rationalisation, with excellent communication and influence skills.
  • TOGAF/SABSA or similar certification, with a collaborative, customer‑focused mindset and the ability to lead through influence.
