Overview
About Microsoft

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more. We bring a growth mindset to everything we do, and we build a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

The opportunity

As an Enterprise Cloud Solution Architect in our Australia and New Zealand Customer Success team, you will be the most senior Azure technical leader for a small portfolio of strategic enterprise and public sector customers with significant, multi-year Azure commitments. Your customers span enterprise commercial, financial services, and public sector.

This is an enterprise-wide, cross-solution role spanning Azure AI, infrastructure, data and security. You will bring executive presence and deep delivery experience, partnering with C-level leaders on strategy while owning the architecture quality and platform health that let customers run mission-critical workloads and take AI into production with confidence. The focus is on realising value from commitments customers have already made, rather than pursuing new deals.

Responsibilities
What you’ll doExecutive strategy and trusted advice
  • Engage CIOs, CTOs and CDOs to shape Cloud and AI strategy, including sovereignty, resiliency and security.
  • Act as trusted technical advisor, presenting clear, evidence-based recommendations to executives.
  • Co-create cloud adoption plans and roadmaps covering architecture, security, resiliency and cost.
Architecture leadership and platform health
  • Take accountability for the health of each customer’s Azure platform: proactive resiliency, security, governance, capacity, optimization and planning for service retirements.
  • Own end-to-end architecture quality as a design gatekeeper for mission-critical workloads.
  • Architect major initiatives such as secure migrations and agentic AI solutions, and contribute enterprise-wide architecture and horizon planning, raising key decisions early.
Cloud and AI value realization
  • Lead the Azure consumption plan side by side with the Customer Success Account Manager, accelerating, optimizing and recovering value from multi-year Azure commitments.
  • Protect and grow realized cloud value by identifying the next-best workload and bringing expansion insights, such as resiliency improvements, to account and specialist sales teams.
  • Demonstrate the value of Microsoft Unified enterprise support services and plan for right-sized delivery.
Delivery orchestration
  • Orchestrate, rather than replace, delivery: nominate customers for accelerated deployment programs and align delivery of architects and engineering teams.
  • Oversee committed projects from commitment through completion and realised consumption, shaping technical delivery plans with technical specialists and sales engineers.
AI and innovation
  • Ready the infrastructure and data estate for production-scale AI with Fabric, AI Foundry and Databricks.
  • Help customers build and scale AI agents through AI agent build programs, positioning Microsoft IQ as the intelligence layer and getting agents into production on a governed AI platform.
  • Lead initiatives such as proactive resiliency, the AI path to production, GitHub, Azure Arc and Fabric.
Leadership and community
  • Act as technical spokesperson and mentor, run business and delivery reviews, and contribute to enablement.
Who you’ll work with

You will partner with executive sponsors, CIOs, CTOs and IT directors, platform teams and Cloud Centres of Excellence, security and operations teams, and application owners. Inside Microsoft, you will work with account executives, technical specialists, sales engineers, Customer Success Account Managers, and delivery architects and engineering teams.

How success is measured

Success shows up as growth in realised Azure consumption, healthy performance against customers’ multi-year commitments, wider adoption of Microsoft enterprise support services, faster deployments across your portfolio, AI agents running in production, and measurably improved platform health.

  • Track record of large-scale migrations and designing mission-critical, resilient architectures.
  • Experience overseeing delivery at programme level across multiple workstreams and partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert and related Azure certifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure AI Foundry and building AI agents.
  • GitHub and DevOps practices, plus hybrid and multicloud management with Azure Arc.
  • Knowledge of data sovereignty and regulated industries such as financial services and government.
  • Australian security clearance (desirable for some public sector and defence engagements).
  • Commercial acumen with consumption-based cloud agreements.
