About the Role:

As a Field Application Scientist in the Life Sciences Solutions Group you will be a partner to our customers, assisting them in achieving their goals.

You will provide clinical customers with support in the areas of precision medicine and reproductive health and guide them in the implementation of testing solutions.

Working as a team with our Sales Representatives and Field Service Engineers, your professional manner and strong customer focus will contribute substantially to customer success and to the delivery of revenue through commercial execution.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customers with technical expertise, product information and support in the areas of precision medicine and reproductive health.
  • Design and conduct experiments to initiate and validate the use of Thermo Fisher Scientific systems in customer’s laboratories.
  • Train clinical laboratory scientists on the use and maintenance of Thermo Fisher Scientific systems and software.
  • Prepare presentations and run seminars and workshops to educate customers and drive revenue growth.
  • Help the sales team reach the order plan by planning and driving post-sales customer support activities tailored to the product line.
  • Resolve customer queries through remote or onsite troubleshooting.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to resolve customer issues without delay.
  • Play a major role in introducing and supporting new products and applications.
  • As a subject matter expert, continuously update your scientific knowledge for support of customers and internal teams.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor of Science or higher education.

Experience

  • Experience with reproductive health and/or precision medicine testing.
  • Experience training clinical laboratory staff on the use of scientific equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent understanding of clinical genomics.
  • Excellent understanding of genomic databases and their annotations (GenBank, RefSeq, ENSEMBL, dbSNP)
  • Demonstrated computer and data analysis skills, ability to analyze complex data sets.
  • Customer focused, thinks and implements with a customer-centric perspective
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to work well as part of a cross-functional team with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills, able to manage conflicting priorities and ensure deliverables are met.
  • Strong communication skills:
    • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
    • Excellent listening, questioning and negotiation skills.
    • Comfortable in delivering presentations.
    • Ability to share information clearly and consistently with customers and colleagues

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Fluent English language skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Area of responsibility: Australia, New Zealand and some Pacific Islands
  • Computer and internet knowledge.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Has an approachable manner.
  • The position is field-based and some work in the evenings or on weekends may be required.
