We are recruiting a Finance Business Partner (Senior Accountant) who will be responsible for the financial operations of Emergent Group and its member companies. You will oversee accounting processes and deliver reliable, accurate and timely financial reports, working closely with Emergent Group’s Managing Director and the executive team of each business to help drive financial performance. The role requires analytical skills and financial acumen to provide valuable insights and recommendations to improve financial performance, optimise resource allocation, and support sound decision-making.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual accounting processes, collaborating closely with the accounts team to ensure processes are clearly defined, documented and completed to a high standard.
  • Deliver financial reports to the executive team in a timely manner.
  • Complete regulatory tasks including BAS and preparation of data for tax returns.

Cashflow and Treasury Management

  • Monitor and report on cash flow and working capital requirements.
  • Oversee treasury functions including investments and debt management.

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Lead annual budgeting processes across the group, monitor performance against budgets and provide variance analysis.
  • Establish an accurate forecasting system for each business and clearly communicate performance progress and variations in forecasts to targets.
  • Express a point of view and guide decision making by teaching business leaders the financial implication of their decisions.

Business and Project Performance

  • Collaborate with operational leaders to support business performance and provide actionable insights to help develop financial acumen across the businesses.
  • Support team leaders to achieve their financial targets through timely and useful reports, analysis, and insights into business unit performance.

General

  • Monitor financial systems to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and legal obligations.
  • Display a positive attitude and develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertake any other tasks, duties or specific projects within your area of skills and expertise, as required.

Requirements

Essential

  • A degree in accounting or related area.
  • Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a management accounting or similar role.
  • Strong technical skills including the proven ability to verify information for accuracy and relevance, interrogate data and communicate results effectively.
  • The ability to monitor all aspects of the financial systems to ensure adherence to policies, procedures and legal obligations.
  • Technology savvy with the ability to develop expertise in new software systems.
  • Experience in large complex documents with advanced computer skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that will enable you to build positive relationships with stakeholders across Emergent Group (including remote teams).
  • Experience developing systems and processes (and a process-driven mindset).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure without compromising on quality.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and show initiative.
  • Willingness and flexibility to undertake occasional interstate travel.

Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (or Navision/MS Dynamics NAV).
  • Experience developing PowerBI reporting tools.

Reports To: Group Manager – Shared Services  
Position type – permanent and full time
Location: Emergent Group Head Office – Mayfield West
