JOB DESCRIPTION:

ABBOTT IRELAND 

Abbott serves the Irish market with a diverse range of health care products including diagnostics, medical devices and nutritional products. In Ireland, Abbott employs around 6,000 people across ten sites. We have been operating in Ireland since 1946. 

We have seven manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford, Kilkenny and Sligo and a third-party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. Abbott has commercial, support operations and shared services centres in Dublin and Galway.

Purpose of Role 

The Finance Manager for CFS Sligo is responsible for coordinating and supporting a range of complex tax activities and statutory reporting functions. This role will be responsible for VAT, transfer pricing, corporation tax, maintaining tax risk registers, billing of support services, external and internal audit support, supporting all the Abbott Ireland sites and liaising closely with CFS EMEA Shared Services Hub.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure delivery of strategic projects and execution of Revenue Cooperative Compliance Framework (CCF) requirements
  • Ensure robust risk registers in place for all tax heads, with regular monitoring in place to ensure completeness
  • Co-ordinate self-reviews of tax head compliance across all Abbott Ireland sites, identifying and leading implementation of process improvements where required
  • Responsible for VAT compliance, ensuring effective and efficient framework in place
  • Ensure delivery of statutory accounts in support of corporate, country/legal entity timelines
  • Build relationships and interact with site stakeholders to provide support, technical expertise and guidance
  • Responsible for ensuring on time completion and submission of statutory/regulatory returns for entities in scope, including CSO, Secretarial and Revenue VAT, VIES/ Intrastat and returns
  • Liaise with Internal and External Auditors as required
  • Establish culture of continuous improvement within the team, and liaise with CFS EMEA hub to ensure end to end process improvement opportunities are identified and implemented
  • Develop new and streamline existing processes and systems as required to ensure more efficient delivery of value-add information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the internal control environment is operating as intended and that any improvements are implemented in a timely fashion
  • Prepare and analyse cost information for presentation to and review by key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the performance management and development of the team, ensuring that the ‘Can do’ process is maintained, SMART goals are set and that team members receive relevant and timely feedback on an ongoing basis.
  • Lead the team to perform ad hoc and special projects assignments, as required

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified Accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Tax Qualification – AITI or equivalent desirable
  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance desirable
  • 5+ years relevant experience in a complex global environment – preferably within a multi-currency, US GAAP based financial close
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • SAP or other major ERP Systems experience is desirable
  • Hands-on and self-starter mentality
  • Able to manage responsibilities independently
  • Excellent financial analysis skills with ability to summarise data into high quality summaries.
  • Strong computer skills especially MS Office & PowerBI.

Minimum language skills

  • Fluent in English essential
