Financial AccountantFidante Finance Team | Sydney CBD (Hybrid Working - 3 days in office)

The Fidante Finance team sits at the centre of the Fidante business, delivering results and analysis to senior stakeholders including the CEO, CFO, Group Boards and Investor Relations.

The team acts as accountant to Fidante's affiliate fund managers which means genuine exposure to how a funds management business is run: you could find yourself attending board meetings or working directly with boutique fund manager principals, not just supporting the finance function behind the scenes.

About the role

Day to day, you'll be doing real financial control work: month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory accounts, audit files and Board papers. The work is technically interesting, the team is collaborative, and you'll be building skills that set you up well for a long-term career in financial services finance.

What You'll Do

Month-End & Financial Control

  • Own month-end journal processing and general ledger close for your portfolio of entities

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations with analytical review and commentary

  • Contribute to management reporting across the Fidante business

Tax & Compliance

  • Provide information for tax return completion and other compliance matters including BAS and FBT

  • Report on affiliate compliance with regulatory capital and cash requirements, including cashflow monitoring and forecasting

Statutory & Audit

  • Assist with preparation of statutory financial statements for corporate and affiliate entities

  • Prepare audit files and liaise with auditors on queries — good exposure to the audit process early in your career

  • Prepare Board papers including workpapers for audit and risk committees, and accounting memos on new standards

Stakeholder Engagement & Improvement

  • Build working relationships with affiliate fund managers and wider finance colleagues - this team is genuinely embedded in the business, not sitting behind a wall

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls across your portfolio, and help drive those changes

  • Support ad hoc projects including establishment of new affiliates, distribution partnerships and acquisitions

The skills and experience you'll need

You're newly CA/CPA qualified, ideally with some post-qualified experience in a financial accounting or financial control environment. You take the detail seriously, communicate clearly, and want to keep growing.

Essential

  • Solid grounding in financial accounting and control - you understand the month-end process and can prepare and review reconciliations to a high standard

  • Strong analytical skills - able to break down a problem, identify what matters and work through to a solution

  • Clear communicator, comfortable translating financial information for both finance and non-finance stakeholders

  • High attention to detail and a track record of producing accurate, well-presented work

  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets

  • A genuine interest in funds management — we'll teach you the rest

Desirable

  • Experience in financial services

  • Exposure to Workday, Workiva or Anaplan

  • A proactive approach to learning - this team values people who take the initiative and want to develop
