About the Role 

Join our growing Bluecurrent Finance team as a Financial Accountant – Tax and Treasury. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your tax and treasury expertise across both Australia and New Zealand, while supporting continued sound financial decision-making in a business helping to shape the future of energy.

In this role, you will provide expert tax and compliance advice across Finance and the wider business, and support ‘front-office’ treasury activities in Australia and New Zealand.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing guidance on complex tax matters, including international taxation, transfer pricing, mergers and acquisitions, and potential financial restructuring alongside working with external tax advisors.
  • Supporting the preparation and filing of income tax returns in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Preparing indirect tax returns including GST, FBT, Withholding and payroll taxes and other levies.
  • Keeping up to date and communicating changes in tax legislation, industry trends, and compliance regulations and advising impact of these changes.
  • Ensuring adherence to internal tax governance policy, tax legislation and maintaining accurate records for audits and reconciliations of tax accounts.
  • Responding to queries and handling audits with tax authorities (IRD and ATO)
  • Managing FX and interest rate hedging and working with the business on forecast requirements.
  • Identifying and implementing strategies to mitigate risks, including interest rate fluctuations and currency risk.

What we are looking for 

To be successful in this role, you will ideally:

  • Be CA/CPA qualified with 7 years of experience in complex corporate environments.
  • Have knowledge of Australian and New Zealand tax legislation and regulatory compliance, including Thin Capitalisation, Transfer Pricing, and other cross-border financing arrangements.
  • Have proven ability to interpret complex tax laws and apply them to specific financial situations.
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with all stakeholders.
  • Have the ability to manage multiple requests and meet tight deadlines.
  • Have strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
