Job DescriptionReporting to the Manager, Accounting, Tax & Treasury, this position plays a key role in supporting the financial reporting framework for the university.
Specifically, you will:
- Undertake compliance work in the tax and financial accounting space, including asset management.
- Develop, implement and continue to improve processes to comply with financial accounting and tax reporting requirements (e.g. FBT, GST) and resolve escalated issues.
- Provide expert advice on tax, finance and accounting policies, systems and issues.
- Perform month-end and year-end close tasks and processes in accordance with established procedures, ensuring general ledger close timelines are achieved.
- Undertake detailed analysis, identify trends, risks, challenges, opportunities, and their financial and tax impacts on the University; and communicate interactively with colleagues across the University and within the Finance team.
You will work within a team of seven and be able to multitask in an environment with competing deadlines.

You will also have:
- Have attention to detail and accuracy
- Prior experience as a tax accountant in a Big 4 or mid-tier professional services firm will be favourably considered
- CPA or CA qualified and/or Master of Tax
- Ability to work autonomously but also be a great team player
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Interest in the not-for-profit sector

This is a full-time six-month fixed-term position based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations.
Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary
HEW level 7 salary range $104,504 - $113,680 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range of $122,270 - $132,466 per annum.
