Travelex ANZ is looking for a Financial Analyst with 2 - 5 years accounting experience to join our team based at our Sydney Support Office. 

The role is reporting to the ANZ Financial Controller.

The Role:

  • Financial support to all areas of ANZ business, with a focus on commercial rigor and stakeholder engagement. This will include detailed analysis and business review for the senior leadership team and their support teams, providing timely clear and accurate financial information.
  • Monthly profit and loss reporting, balance sheet reporting, preparation of statutory accounts and audit, both internal and external.
  • Working closely with offshore GL and Reconciliation teams to fully comply with monthly/quarterly reporting deadlines and to ensure that ANZ operate within Travelex’s Group Financial Policies.
  • Proactively engage with business partners, throughout the forecasting and budgeting cycles, with regular business reviews to monitor variances.
  • Other Ad-hoc analysis when required.

About you:

Financial & Commercial Acumen

  • An appropriate university degree from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Finance-related functions, Commercial Finance, Management Accounting, Data or Business Analytics.
  • Strong understanding of P&L reporting, financial modelling including budgets and forecasting, and business performance analysis.
  • Ability to interpret key business drivers and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Exceptional MS Excel skills, with the ability to analyse large datasets, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights. we will test you 😊!!
  • High degree of problem-solving and process excellence, with the ability to simplify complex data.
  • Nice to have: Experience with SQL for data extraction and analysis, as well as BI tools like Quicksight to enhance reporting and visualization.

Technical & System Knowledge

  • Experience with financial systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle etc).

Business Partnering

  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, powerful narratives that drive business insights to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across functions.
  • Ability to connect insights across different business segments to provide a holistic view of performance.

Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving

  • Curious and self-starting attitude, with the ability to think fast and proactively identify opportunities.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, balancing short-term and long-term goals.
  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to work autonomously and within a cohesive team.
  • Finance Degree qualified with up to 3 years’ experience. CPA or CA is preferable.
  • The role requires a range of technical, commercial and management reporting skills, with an ability to facilitate discussions, develop initiatives, and operate effectively to drive performance.
  • A system savvy individual who is highly proficient (wizz) in Microsoft Office

General Experience and personal qualities:

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic, a self-driven individual who seeks continuous improvement and has a willingness to roll up the sleeves and showcase their analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail having worked in industry or commerce for 2-5 years.
  • Relationship-building skills, being able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with finance and non-finance professionals.
  • Work well both autonomously and as part of the ANZ Finance team.
  • Ability to manage numerous competing priorities while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Ability to show initiative and work under pressure.
