If you live in Australia or New Zealand, you’ve likely heard of AMP. But at a time when society is changing, we are too. We’re now a nimbler business with new leadership and thinking.

For us, these are exciting times. There’s a real potential for big thinkers to help us redefine what financial services could be. And turn our legacy into something even more positive and powerful for the future.

Help people create their tomorrow, while you create yours

We help people with their banking, super, retirement and finances. Through upturns, downturns, recessions, and major life transitions. Every day, we help people see and make more of their financial potential, so that they can create their tomorrow. And we’ve been doing it for over 170 years.

If we do our job well, we genuinely add to the prosperity of our country and its people.

Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) is a Group enterprise function which sits within the ERM division and provides expert advice and is accountable for the effective management of financial crime obligations and emerging risks across the AMP Group including AML/CTF, Sanctions, Fraud and Scams, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) and foreign tax reporting (FATCA/CRS) domains

This role is a key 2LoD position within FCC, providing independent oversight and challenge across fraud, scams, and anti‑bribery and corruption risks. As a hands‑on subject matter expert, you will strengthen control effectiveness, governance and regulatory readiness through expert judgement, pragmatic advice and influential decision‑shaping.

The role has direct impact in anticipating and responding to evolving fraud and scam typologies, preventing and addressing bribery and corruption risks (including third‑party and conduct‑driven exposures), and ensuring credible, regulator‑ready oversight and assurance. It suits someone who operates with autonomy in a high‑performance risk environment and is trusted by senior leaders and executives.

How will you make an impact

  • Providing independent 2LoD oversight and credible challenge across fraud, scams and ABC risk frameworks, controls and risk assessments.
  • Owning and maintaining fraud, scams and ABC policies, standards and risk frameworks, ensuring alignment to regulatory obligations and industry standards.
  • Assessing the design and operating effectiveness of key controls, supporting assurance activities, thematic reviews and internal fraud reviews.
  • Leading or supporting investigations into internal fraud and impersonation scam incidents, including root cause analysis and remediation tracking.
  • Interrogating fraud and scam trends, threat assessments and typologies to inform oversight focus and risk responses.
  • Developing and monitoring meaningful KRIs and KPIs to support executive and Board‑level oversight.
  • Producing concise, technically robust insights and board‑ready papers that clearly articulate risk positions, control weaknesses and recommended actions.
  • Be a trusted advisor and partner with Line 1, projects and change teams to embed fraud, scams and ABC risk considerations into new products, services, technology and strategic initiatives without slowing delivery.
  • Supporting regulatory engagement, self‑assessments and responses to regulatory findings.

What you will bring to the role

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in business, commerce, finance, law, governance, compliance, risk management, information security, or a related discipline.
  • Degree qualifications in Business, Commerce, Finance or Law (or equivalent) would be well regarded.
  • Proven experience in fraud and scams risk management (essential), with exposure to anti‑bribery and corruption risk preferred, within financial services or other regulated environments.
  • Essential experience in Banking and/or Wealth Management.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial crime compliance or related roles.
  • Experience working in, or closely with, a 2LoD risk function, including governance, oversight and independent challenge.
  • Exposure to fraud investigations, incident response, reporting and data analysis (preferred).
  • Hands‑on expertise across fraud, scams and ABC risk, including control oversight and assurance.
  • Strong understanding of 2LoD accountabilities, risk frameworks and control effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory and legal expectations (e.g. Scams Prevention Framework Act 2025, FSC Standard 29, AUSTRAC, ASIC and APRA expectations, fraud risk management, AS ISO 37001 principles, whistleblowing, conflicts, third‑party risk).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to inform or influence specific audiences.
  • Builds a culture of collaboration across 2LoD FCC function

Who you are

You’re a self-directed specialist who thrives as an individual contributor, taking end-to-end ownership of complex fraud, scams and anti-bribery & corruption risk work, shaping the problem, cutting through ambiguity and landing outcomes. You can juggle competing priorities at pace, and you’re comfortable setting and tracking meaningful KRIs/KPIs that sharpen oversight and drive action.

You bring exceptional judgement, attention to detail and the confidence to provide independent challenge, especially when it matters most and to the most senior stakeholders. You translate technical risk issues into clear, commercial advice, and you build credibility through consistency, expertise and practical solutions. Your communication is sharp and purposeful, including the ability to write board- and committee-ready papers that clearly articulate risk positions and recommended decisions.

You’re outcomes-focused, resilient and energised by operating without formal people leadership in a high-performance 2LoD environment. You stay curious and forward-looking, actively tracking evolving fraud and scam threats and adjusting your approach as typologies change. Collaborative by nature, you work seamlessly across FCC and the broader risk community to lift standards, build momentum and strengthen shared accountability
