About the Role

This is an opportunity for a Financial Lines Claims Specialist to join a high-performing team and play a key role in managing a portfolio of claims. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality claims outcomes through effective investigation, reserving and adjustment, while providing a consistently exceptional service experience to clients and other stakeholders.

As a specialist, you will bring strong technical claims expertise, sound judgement and a proactive approach to each file. You’ll work closely with internal teams, external counsel and other key stakeholders to assess coverage, investigate loss, manage litigation strategy and drive claims to timely and appropriate resolution, all in line with Chubb’s claims philosophy, best practice guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyse first report of claim, suit or underlying material to determine nature of loss, coverage provided and scope of damage
  • Conduct or direct needed investigation relative to all aspects of reported claims. Secure and/or file all supporting documentation and verify same for accuracy, relationship and completeness
  • Establish accurate and timely reserves
  • Maintain active diary to achieve timely development of file and timely disposition
  • Provide exceptional service standards in line with best practice guidelines
  • Practise sound litigation controls over counsel
  • Promptly and properly document all developments in claim file
  • Meet with appropriate parties to litigation or claims, as necessary, to resolve issues
  • Effectively communicate with the following: Claim Department, Customer Services, Loss Control, Underwriting Departments, brokers, insureds, counsel, third parties and/or their legal representatives
  • May direct claim representatives to participate in file development and subrogation
  • Adhere to Insurance Contracts Act and all other relevant statutory rules and regulations
  • Effectively control the use, work product and expenses of outside vendors
  • Exercise good judgement in reaching final disposition of claim by evaluating nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage provided and applicable limits
  • Participate in branch marketing efforts
  • Such other duties as may be delegated by the Claims manager
