As a Vice President in the Financial Reporting team, you will be responsible for leading the that provides taxable income distribution services, statutory financial statements services, and tax return/discovery and BAS services for clients. In your new role, your clients will primarily include large trust fund managers, as well as superannuation funds based in Australia, as well as other locations.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee and sign off on tax distributions, discovery, tax returns, audit packages, trial balances (TBs), and financial statements for unit trust clients.
- Oversee and sign off on Business Activity Statement (BAS) calculations, Management Expense Ratios (MER), and Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reporting.
- Ensure all deliverables are captured, completed, and delivered according to agreed timetables and client Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Provide career development, training, coaching, and guidance to team members.
- Facilitate communication with clients regarding their tax reporting requirements and accounting/tax-related queries.
- Act as a subject matter expert for tax-related queries and build and maintain external client relationships.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with local operations, client services, and ancillary teams.
- Represent the financial reporting team on projects related to clients, process improvements, and product development.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operations issues through research and engagement with relevant teams.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of all team processes and deliver on strategic goals related to technology and operating models.
- Build and maintain an effective partnership with our offshore center of excellence.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Hold a tertiary qualification in Tax, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Possess at least 8 years of experience in tax or financial accounting within the financial and/or professional services sector.
- Have some experience in a management role.
- Demonstrate experience in Australian tax, specifically related to trust income distributions and trust tax returns, or have solid experience in statutory reporting and application of accounting standards in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards Board and International Financial Reporting Standards for managed investment trusts.
- Show a proven track record of delivering on strategic goals related to technology, operations models, and product development.
- Exhibit effective planning and time management skills, with demonstrated initiative and a proactive approach to managing a dynamic workload and periodic overtime.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualifications are preferable.
- Experience in a CA/CPA firm or a global custodian would be highly regarded
