About LegalVision

LegalVision is a commercial law firm built for businesses that want to work differently. Through our fixed-fee legal membership, we provide unlimited legal support to SMEs and in-house teams.

Our team uses custom-built technology to deliver fast, high-quality legal support with predictable pricing for clients and rewarding careers for those who work here. With operations across Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, LegalVision offers clear progression, exposure to complex work at scale, and the opportunity to be part of an innovative law firm recognised as a 5 Star Employer of Choice, a Top 25 Attraction Firm, and Law Firm of the Year.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a mid level Franchising Lawyer to join our successful team in Sydney. Our lawyers have worked with hundreds of franchisors (both Australian and international) to help grow their Australian franchise networks.

Our franchising team handles a diverse range of work, including establishing franchise systems, ensuring ongoing compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct, managing business-as-usual franchising tasks such as grants and renewals, advising on expansion strategies, franchise buybacks and sales and assisting with franchise-related disputes. We also support LegalVision’s other clients with intellectual property licensing and protection, leasing and all other commercial legal needs they may have. This ensures you get a variety of work, in addition to franchising matters.

Many of our clients are sophisticated enterprises with in-house legal teams. In these cases, we work as an extension of their teams, providing specialist expertise and additional capacity to support their operations and growth objectives. In particular, our franchising team provides franchising expertise as well as support across general commercial and leasing to these enterprise and mid-market businesses.

We're looking for someone who loves to take on stimulating and challenging legal matters. You will be responsible for providing advice to long standing franchise clients as well as assisting new franchise systems with their set-up. In addition to that, you will also be advising and assisting clients on a diverse range of interesting commercial work both from our franchisor clients and other clients from time to time.

The Ideal Candidate
  • 2-4 years experience from a reputable law firm or busy in-house team;
  • Strong general commercial law experience with some demonstrated franchising law experience, ideally advising franchisors in relation to their obligations under the ACL and more specifically, the Franchising Code of Conduct;
  • Broad commercial and consumer law experience;
  • A desire to work closely with clients on a day to day basis, and a can do attitude;
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to think on your feet;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • The ability to step up and take on responsibility for day to day transactions;
  • Strong drafting skills (eg. franchising/commercial/business law documents, as well as content for our website); and
  • A strong desire to get involved in broader business development activities both in the office and outside of it.
The Perks
  • Fast-paced environment with accelerated growth opportunities for high performers.
  • Earn additional ‘LV Leave’ days, plus paid birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
  • Annual budget to spend on external learning and development.
  • Regular team socials, drinks and team lunches.
  • Vibrant office environment in Surry Hills super close to Central Station, and flexible work-from-home options.
Apply Today!

If this position sounds like your ideal next move, we’d love to hear from you! Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so apply early to avoid missing out.

A note to recruiters: we’re all over this role, so there’s no need for you to get in touch. LegalVision does not accept unsolicited CVs or responsibility for any fees related to unsolicited CVs. Thanks!
