About BizCover

BizCover is Australia’s no. 1 online business insurance service that simplifies comparing and buying cover, so small businesses can save time, money and get instant cover. Operating since 2008, in an industry dominated by big players, time-consuming processes, and poor service levels, BizCover disrupted the insurance market to level the playing field for small businesses. BizCover currently serves over 300,000 SMEs through its online platform.

Why this role exits?

BizCover helps small businesses get insured online in minutes. We have run experiments before, but paused them while we rolled out our new platform. Now our new platform is ready and we are restarting experimentation with a new team, focused on finding out what makes our customer journeys work better and prove it with real tests.

You will be the team’s front-end developer, working alongside a Senior Experimentation Strategist and a Data Analyst. You will build the tests, help choose how we run them, and shape how the team works from day one. We are finalising our experimentation platform now, so you will help set it up and decide how it fits with AIE, our AI-driven delivery lifecycle.

What you’ll do

  • Build A/B and multivariate test variants in React and Next.js (TypeScript).
  • Integrate and configure the new experimentation platform, including feature flags, targeting, rollout and clean-up.
  • Promote winning variants to production-quality code and remove the rest.
  • Work with the team’s Data Analyst so every test is set up to be measured correctly.
  • Keep pages fast and accessible, with unit and end-to-end tests on experiment code.
  • Help define how the team works: how ideas become tests, and how tests are launched, reviewed and closed.
  • Suggest what to test next, based on what you see in the code and the results.

Requirements

What we’re looking for

  • Strong React developer. Commercial experience (typically 3+ years) building production web apps in React and TypeScript. Next.js preferred.
  • Experimentation experience. Hands-on experience with A/B testing or feature-flag platforms such as Optimizely, GrowthBook, LaunchDarkly, Statsig or VWO.
  • Experiment fundamentals. You know control vs variant, sample size, and why you don’t stop a test early.
  • Quality-minded. Performance, accessibility and automated testing (e.g. Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright).
  • AI in your toolkit. You use AI coding tools in your work and have views on them.
  • Team builder. Comfortable in a small team where you help set the process, not just follow it.

Nice to have

  • Analytics tagging, e.g. GA4 or Google Tag Manager
  • Insurance, financial services or conversion-focused e-commerce
  • Server-side or edge experimentation; design systems

Who you’ll work with

  • Your team: Senior Experimentation Strategist and Data Analyst
  • Across BizCover: Engineering squads and QA, Product, Design / UX, Marketing and Customer Acquisition

Benefits
  • Hybrid working model with 3 days a week in an attractive Sydney CBD office.
  • Exciting and rewarding team culture.
  • Quarterly recognition awards.
  • Business Casual dress code.
  • Rewarding Employee Incentive Program.
  • Growing company with progression opportunities.

BizCover values

  • Customer Fanatic —  every test exists to make it easier for a small business owner to get the right cover.
  • Drumbeater —  you keep tests moving and others feel the momentum.
  • Advancer —  you find the next thing to try and share what you learned.
  • Finisher —  tests run to a conclusion, results acted on, code cleaned up.
