Own and ship end-to-end product surfaces using Next.js/TypeScript and FastAPI/Python. Raise frontend quality, optimize performance for data-dense UIs (3D playback, time-series, maps), build mobile-friendly dashboards, and implement backend APIs, data models, and jobs. Iterate quickly with customers and own outcomes.

About Alloy Robotics

We believe robotics is the industry of our lifetime, and data is its lifeblood.

Alloy is the AI-native data platform for robotics teams. Robot fleets generate enormous volumes of logs, video, telemetry, and mission data, and most of it ends up in silos where nobody can use it. Alloy turns it into one queryable layer with AI agents on top: engineers ask questions in natural language, get automated mission reports, and catch failures before they compound. The point is simple. Your robot breaks, you find out why, and your best people spend their time building the next robot instead of digging through the last one.

We've raised $16m, backed by Square Peg, Blackbird, and Airtree, with angels including senior leaders from OpenAI, Anthropic, Tesla, Waymo, and Halter. We partner with robotics teams across defence, agriculture, maritime, humanoids, construction, and medical, including Advanced Navigation, DroneForge, Breaker Industries, and Puralink. We're a lean team building from Sydney, and are adding our first US hires.

Where we are, and where we're heading

Our product is where robotics engineers live when something goes wrong: Mesh holds their fleet data, Replay plays missions back in 3D, agents answer and report on top. The bones are strong and customers use it daily. The next year is about making it exceptional: faster, more intuitive, more coherent.

About the role

You'll own product surfaces end to end and raise the bar on frontend craft: the polish, the speed, the coherence. Small senior team, no layers; your work is in front of real robotics teams within days.

What you'll do

  • Own surfaces end to end: design, build, ship, iterate (Next.js/TypeScript, FastAPI/Python)

  • Set the frontend quality bar

  • Hunt down slow loads and fix the architecture behind them

  • Build data-dense UI: 3D playback, time-series, maps, dashboards, all of it great on mobile

  • Ship full-stack when the feature needs it: APIs, data model, jobs

You may be a good fit if you have

  • 3+ years building production web products, frontend and backend

  • Exceptional React/TypeScript with strong CSS fundamentals

  • Design taste: good calls without a mock for every state

  • Performance instincts on data-heavy pages

  • A habit of shipping fast and owning outcomes

Strong candidates may also have

  • Data-dense or visualisation-heavy products behind you

  • Design-system experience

  • An interest in robotics (ROS/MCAP a plus)

  • AI-assisted development fluency

How we work

We're building the company we always wanted to join: small, fast, and serious about the craft. The bar is work you'll be proud of in five years, shipped this week. Everyone owns outcomes end to end: the interesting problems don't come with instructions, and nobody will hand you a playbook. We question requirements, delete what shouldn't exist, and spend our energy where customers feel it. If you want clear lanes and a manager to set your week, we'll frustrate you. If you want real problems, real pace, and the best work of your career, you'll fit right in.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary

  • Additional compensation and benefits may include equity and flexible working arrangements

If this reads like you but you don't tick every box, apply anyway. We care more about trajectory than checklists.

What you need to know about the Sydney Tech Scene

From opera to comedy shows, the Sydney Opera House hosts more than 1,600 performances a year, yet its entertainment sector isn't the only one taking center stage. The city's tech sector has earned a reputation as one of the fastest-growing in the region. More specifically, its IT sector stands out as the country's third-largest, growing at twice the rate of overall employment in the past decade as businesses continue to digitize their operations to stay competitive.
