As a Ground Standards Compliance Advisor, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Sydney Airport. You’ll be responsible for conducting regular operational observations of Airport Stakeholders who hold an Airport Operations Licence (AOL), investigating non-compliance events, and supporting the ongoing improvement of safety, environmental, and operational standards. This is a key role that works closely with both internal teams and external licensees, helping to maintain Sydney Airport’s reputation as a world-class international gateway.
You’ll also support the AOL & Ground Services Manager in performance reporting and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively. Your work will directly contribute to the safety and operational excellence of the airport community.
Please note this is an initial 12-month Max-term contract.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct operational and systems-based observations of licensees to ensure compliance with the Airport Operating Licence.
- Address observation findings with stakeholders through to closeout, monitoring effectiveness and supporting corrective actions.
- Investigate alleged breaches of the AOL, evaluate evidence, and recommend or determine appropriate actions.
- Prepare observation and performance reports for both individual licensees and the broader airport community.
- Liaise with internal teams on safety, environmental, and operational audit findings, and assist in the review of licensee reports, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate meetings and risk assessments, ensuring effective communication and follow-up on action items.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, WHS, Quality Assurance, or relevant industry experience.
- Previous experience in airport, airline, or ground handling operations, including risk assessment coordination and review.
- Lead Auditor qualification with at least 3 years’ experience conducting audits in an operational environment.
- Formal safety investigation qualification (e.g., ICAM) or relevant investigation experience.
- Strong customer focus with the ability to build rapport and relationships across the airport community.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail in report writing.
Additional requirements:
- NSW Driving Licence and ability to hold or currently hold a Cat 2 ADA (no current demerit points).
- Aviation Radio Operators Certificate (AROC) desirable.
- Knowledge of IATA ISAGO, AHM, IGOM, and airport safety/environmental requirements is an advantage.
