The opportunity
Join our dynamic Group Actuarial team as a Group Economic Capital Modelling Lead. This strategic and technical role offers a unique chance to shape the future of our economic and financial market analysis. You will leverage economic scenario generator (ESG) modelling within the economic capital model (ECM) to provide valuable insights and support our enterprise risk management approach. Your expertise will be crucial in managing both internal and external risks, ensuring our organisation's resilience and success.
You will engage with a wide range of ECM stakeholders, including Group ECM, Division ECM teams, Group Investments and Risk teams.
Duties will include but are not limited to:

Run the QBE ESG on behalf of QBE Group and its Divisions: Be responsible for the day-to-day modelling of economic scenarios using the QBE vendor model, and providing insight into QBE’s internal capital modelling, especially for market and credit risks.

Update and Validate the QBE ESG Model: Ensure the accuracy of asset returns from the vendor ESG model; derive, apply, and apply & validate adjustments based on QBE’s investment plan & outlook.

Apply and Validate ESG Updates in the QBE ECM: Analyse capital impacts at Group and Divisions, and perform validation reviews with Group Investments.

Support with Queries and Requests: Provide assistance with general queries, and with requests for external review and regulatory submissions for the EO division.

Ad Hoc Tasks: Identify opportunities for ESG improvement, promote the understanding and use of ESG within QBE, and coach junior team members.

Support AusPac ECM: Maintain systems and procedures for accurate data and analyses in Capital Modelling, produce analysis and reports for capital needs, and coordinate with global QBE ECM teams
About you
The ideal person for this position will have Economic Capital Modelling experience and familiarity with Economic Scenario Generators, preferably in the general insurance space. You will have excellent communication skills and demonstrable experience in adapting your language and style to suit the needs of various stakeholders.

Previous experience in actuarial roles is beneficial.

Familiarity and ease with capital models, especially Igloo, is also beneficial.

Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to influence mid-level leaders.

Ability to articulate complex analytical concepts to a wider range of stakeholders.

Self-motivated and able to work independently and meet deadlines.

Capable of representing team or function in a range of internal and external forums.
