Job Description

What you’ll do

Reporting to our Manager, Group Reporting, you’ll be an experienced, hands-on member of Nearmap’s Group Accounting team, owning key parts of our financial reporting so it’s accurate, compliant, and audit-ready. You’ll drive month-end close, Group consolidation, and preparation of statutory financial statements, and bring a strong point of view on Australian tax, transfer pricing, and process improvement. You’ll partner with our Financial Control, FP&A, and Commercial Finance teams across Australia and the US, as well as our external auditors and tax advisors. It’s a strong seat for an experienced accountant - ideally an assistant manager or newly promoted manager from a Big 4 or similar background - who wants real ownership inside a fast-moving, PE-owned business, working closely with our Senior Group Accountant, Manager, Group Reporting, and Director, Group Reporting.

  • Own month-end close, including preparing and completing balance sheet reconciliations and posting journals for your assigned accounts.
  • Manage the Group consolidation process, ensuring it’s accurate, timely, and aligned with reporting standards.
  • Lead preparation of monthly and annual statutory financial statements, and pull together underlying financial information for our external advisors.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis to support management’s review of business performance.
  • Lead external audits as central point of contact — coordinating testing, responding to auditor queries, and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Manage direct tax and transfer pricing matters, including compliance documentation, working alongside our external tax advisors and Group Tax Manager.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions as part of the Group’s consolidation process.
  • Liaise with the ATO and state and territory revenue offices as required.
  • Monitor and research new and amended accounting standards, forming a view on their impact on the Group’s financial statements and recommending how we respond.
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives that make month-end and reporting more efficient.
  • Contribute to ad hoc finance projects and initiatives as they arise, partnering across teams on assignments that support the wider business.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and our Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

About you

  • You’re detail-obsessed. Numbers need to tie out, and you won’t sign off until they do — you catch the small things before they become big problems.
  • You’re a systems thinker. You care about getting the process right, not just the output, so the team’s month-end runs smoother each cycle.
  • You’re a creative problem solver. Challenges don’t slow you down — they sharpen you. When you hit a roadblock, you get curious, look at things from a different angle, and find paths forward that others might not have considered.
  • You’re curious. You don’t just book the entry — you want to understand why it’s booked that way, and what the standard behind it actually says.
  • You’re a team player. You’re generous with what you know, comfortable pressure-testing ideas, and happy to pitch in wherever it’s needed most during busy periods.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, or a related field.
  • CA/CPA qualified required.
  • 4+ years experience in an accounting or finance role, with exposure to financial reporting and global consolidations essential.
  • Exposure to multi-currency consolidations, transfer pricing and tax experience viewed favourably.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) with an eagerness to build on it.
  • Big 4 experience, or exposure to an ASX-listed or SaaS/subscription business, viewed favourably.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with experience in NetSuite, Salesforce and similar accounting/ERP systems preferable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to deliver complex messages simplistically.
  • Strong time management and high attention to detail with an ability to work in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment.
