Reporting to Energy Infrastructure Director, the Australian Head of Energy Infrastructure manages the origination and development of transmission lines and related infrastructure (substations) in Australia, in alignment with the business targets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitoring Transmission public and private tenders with the relevant authorities and counterparties.
- Negotiate and secure, directly or with consultants, rights over project land (when and if required), keeping good relationship with landowners.
- Lead the permitting process, ensuring all the project permits, licenses and authorizations are obtained in time and within budget.
- Manage the grid access and interconnection process with the relevant ISO/utility.
- Manage with consultants, advisors and engineers the project design targeting to minimize environmental & social impact, completion schedules and costs whilst maintaining technical requirements.
- Risk assessment related to the locations where to develop and build transmission projects.
- Find and implement solutions to ensure the feasibility of projects from the investment and financing point of view.
- Establish commercial and/or strategic relationships with potential clients, partners or collaborators in each market.
- Contracting and management of services providers, consultants and advisors supporting the development activities.
- Maintain relationships with local, regional and national administrations (public and private), DNO/TSO/ISO and other entities/agencies for the expedited processing of permits, licenses and authorizations.
- Interacts and support construction and businesses areas, being the main point of competence for its area of knowledge.
- Leadership and management of its development team (when applicable).
REQUIREMENTS
- Engineering degree associated with electrical power systems and/or electrical engineering. Other education levels will be considered if relevant experience is proven.
- Proven track record and experience in a similar role for more than 8 years.
- Experience in negotiating Concession type of projects with public counterparties.
- Candidates with experience of working directly for TSO/DSOs or other transmission related parties are preferred. Familiar with project development.
- Good understanding of public tenders, interconnection process and agreements.
- Available to travel as per projects/opportunities needs.
- Strong communication and collaborative skills, strategic vision, push to make things happen and appetite to succeed and commercially astute.
- Proactive, autonomous, flexible and being able to prioritize. Anticipation capacity and problem solver and solution provider.
