The opportunity
This role will lead the strategic direction, product design and underwriting of QBE’s Farm portfolio for the intermediated channel, ensuring profitable growth, positive customer experience and compliance with underwriting standard.
The role involves driving profitable growth of Farm embedded insurance through understanding risk appetite, articulating criteria, applying risk appetite to partnerships, and evolving products to support the development of an embedded insurance offering in the farm market. Additionally, the role includes implementing business development strategies, monitoring underwriting results, and ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines.

Your new role
As Head of Farm, you will be responsible for designing, leading and executing the Farm product and underwriting strategy across the value chain. You will balance deep technical underwriting leadership with portfolio‑level decision making, ensuring disciplined risk selection, strong pricing outcomes and long‑term portfolio performance.
- Set and deliver the Farm product and underwriting strategy, aligned to QBE’s SME growth ambitions and risk appetite
- Own Farm portfolio performance and P&L, driving sustainable profitability through disciplined underwriting, pricing and portfolio optimisation
- Lead underwriting execution across new and renewal business, applying strong technical judgement, delegated authorities and robust risk controls
- Monitor underwriting outcomes and portfolio trends, using data‑led insights to drive corrective action and improve margin, mix and profitability
- Lead and enable teams of underwriters and technical specialists to support both strategic portfolio management and consistent execution
- Build strong broker relationships and a high‑performance underwriting culture, while ensuring compliance with regulatory, governance and underwriting standards
About you
You are a commercially minded underwriting leader who thrives at the intersection of risk, technology and transformation. You bring the credibility to lead underwriting teams today, and the vision to evolve how underwriting is done tomorrow.
You’ll also bring:
- Proven P&L and portfolio management experience within SME or middle‑market underwriting, with a working knowledge of Farm and Agribusiness
- Deep technical underwriting expertise, with the ability to manage both complex and lower‑complexity risks
- Ability to interpret market and economic changes and their potential impact on Farm and Agribusiness sector
- The ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, brokers and cross‑functional partners
- A leadership style that builds capability, accountability and continuous improvement
