Job Description

Join us as a Head of Internal Global Equities. 

Reporting to the Head of Listed Assets, this is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing Rest’s Internal Global Equities. It is expected that the role sits on the Senior Leadership Team and collaborates extensively with other Senior leaders and Heads of asset classes across the portfolio and the Rest business.

This role will ultimately provide responsibility for the aggregate internal global equity strategies and mandates, ensuring the portfolios are well placed to achieve their objectives; whilst providing input into the development of new internal global equity strategies, and where appropriate, extracting investment research ideas and other synergies across the internal equity teams. The success of this role is measured by the performance of both the portfolio that the individual is directly responsible for, as well as the monitoring and provision of support to the other internal portfolio managers and analysts, where required.

The role of Head of Internal Global Equities is to:

  • Achieve the required risk return outcome for the Rest mandated Global equity portfolio for members (cognisant of managing downside risk) at a competitive cost that reflects the uniqueness of the value to Rest or where the cost is lower than external alternatives;
  • Lead and manage the internal Global equities portfolio team in the provision of services necessary to implement the equities portfolios’ strategy, manage risk and deliver the appropriate return.
  • As part of the Senior Leadership Team, make strategic decisions and provide leadership to the Investment team. Provide advice on and undertake other investment activities as directed by the Head of Listed Assets.

Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification
  • An in-depth understanding of domestic and international capital markets;
  • An expert understanding of domestic equities investment markets;
  • A strong knowledge of relevant laws and government regulations;
  • Experience in the management of Global equities portfolios gained from demonstrated experience in an equities, investment management or research function;
  • Analyses and constructs Global equities portfolios in accordance with approved investment mandates;
