So, what does this role look like for you?

This role is a Marketing role that requires thought leadership, marketing flair and planning excellence, leading the step change on how we win differently through marketing and fully unleash the power of our brands in the Australian market. We are seeking a business leader who will be the voice of the consumer, leading our brands through strong planning capability and understanding as well as leading global, regional and local business conversations across Diageo.

Future success relies on galvanizing all parts of the business behind our marketing strategy and outstanding execution of our marketing principles, including innovation that is key in accelerating recruitment, pressurization and overall brand performance. The role will have 2 direct reports. Personal ownership of our marketing agenda, the motivation to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done, and the drive and ambition to lead our strategy to brilliant execution is a must.

Leadership Responsibilities

Lead the step change on how we “win differently through marketing:”

  • Champion consumer and occasion centricity- unleashing portfolio ​and brands
  • Champion bolder creative work aligned with new global/local operating model
  • Define best practice to step change efficiency and effectiveness at POP
  • Deliver 55/35/10 A&P model, dramatically reducing non-working spend
  • Simplify marketing and innovation processes to drive agility
  • Portfolio strategy and annual brand planning leadership
  • Marketing capability ownership
  • Market Research ownership
  • Insight generation and Consumer Connections Framework
  • Campaign development process, specifically brief alignment
  • Team leadership for planning, PR and Culture
  • Budget oversight for all the above

What will you bring to the table?

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Comprehensive marketing planning experience.
  • Proven success in building talent, mentoring and leading teams.
  • Proven success in building powerful emotional-benefit brands.
  • Proven success in leading a business in delivering effective and efficient brand outcomes.
  • Highly consistent record of influencing across functions and markets.
  • Strategic problem solver with deep consumer understanding.
  • Highly driven, with a restlessness to win.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment, able to navigate a clear path forward even at times of ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Proven ability to direct external agencies on the development, execution and measurement of marketing strategy and plans.
  • Proven ability to encourage and unlock agencies’ creative flair to build brand fame.
