Job Description

Imagine working closely with many of the world’s largest sports rights holders, brands, agencies, broadcasters, and tourism bodies to help them optimise and grow their sponsorship portfolios.

Nielsen Sports is a trusted adviser and partner in sports and entertainment, helping our clients worldwide to plan, optimise, and measure the impact of their initiatives against business objectives.

This leadership role is the custodian of our Media Evaluation solution, which is anchored by our industry-pioneering QI Media Evaluation methodology used to measure sponsorship brand exposure performance. You will be responsible for managing the delivery and evolution of this solution for a premier portfolio of 100+ blue-chip sports Teams, Leagues, and Sponsors across Australia and New Zealand.

This role is ideal for a data-driven leader who thrives on analysing trends, developing actionable insights, and guiding a high-performing team. Candidates with 8+ years of experience in roles with exposure to QI Media Evaluation within the sport and entertainment industry are strongly encouraged to apply.

Role Responsibilities

  • Product & Project Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of Sponsorship Media Evaluation projects, from initial client kick-off through to the final presentation of insights.

  • Methodology Mastery: Serve as the primary internal and external expert on the QI Media Evaluation methodology, ensuring its accurate and impactful application across all client portfolios.

  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3-5 direct reports, providing strategic guidance and fostering a culture of high performance.

  • Commercial Growth: Monitor product revenue targets and collaborate closely with the Commercial team to prospect, pitch, and win new business.

  • Data Interpretation & Client Success: Utilize Nielsen-owned analysis tools to interpret complex data. Assist clients in maximizing their access to self-service dashboards and tailored insights reporting.

  • Operational Excellence: Monitor and optimize internal and external processes, working seamlessly with cross-functional Nielsen teams and building strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • QI Media Evaluation Expertise (Mandatory): Demonstrable, hands-on project experience with Nielsen’s QI Media Evaluation methodology is required. You may have utilised this data in a previous role at a Sports Agency, Sports Team/League, or as a Sponsorship Manager at a major brand.

  • Industry Experience: 8+ years in analytical, consulting, or media roles within the sports, media, events, or entertainment sectors.

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with an analytical or numerical focus (e.g., Economics, Statistics, or Business).

  • Analytical Prowess: A deep understanding of numbers and statistical analysis, paired with the ability to translate complex data into clear, visual, and verbal narratives.

  • Leadership & Autonomy: Proven balance as a self-starter who takes ownership of tasks, and a collaborative team player who drives cross-division success.

  • Project Management: Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, with the agility to thrive under pressure in a fast-moving, high-energy environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Full proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with a high aptitude for learning new software.

  • Past experience with Arianna or Landsberry & James (L&J) Fusion, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI, would be beneficial
