ING’s Wholesale Bank is in growth mode, and we have a huge 2025 ahead of us. To support that growth, we are seeking a Head of Sectors & Specialised Lending to be based in Sydney.
This newly created position is a senior lending role within the front office. As player-coach, you will carry primary responsibility for some of the key processes related to lending transactions, along with guiding a team of juniors that executes new lending transactions and works closely with the client relationship managers and sector experts to originate new lending transactions.
It is a critical role ensuring newly originated opportunities are delivered smoothly, ensuring our clients have a first-class experience with ING. This team also play a key role in identifying cross sell opportunities within a client.

What you’ll do
- Lead the team involved with every new lending transaction and will take primary responsibility for some of the key processes including preparing credit approval packages, financial models and reviewing legal documentation
- Work closely with the client relationship managers and/or the Deal Principle on the origination and deal structuring
- Ensure a consistent level of quality and policy compliance through training and development activities
- Stay up-to-date on organizational operating policies and procedures (i.e. Risk, Legal) to ensure appropriate protocols are implemented and followed, and facilitate accordingly
- Guide a team of juniors by supporting them in their personal and professional development as lending professionals
What we’re looking for
- 8+ years of relevant lending experience
- Expertise in corporate and project finance loan origination and execution
- Strong credit skills and understanding of debt capital markets
- Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities as well as modelling capabilities
- Leadership and coaching skills to continuously improve the way the team works
- Collaborative and able to work effectively across functions and regions
- Strong presentation and communication skills
