COO forms part of the Group Functions within AMP. The COO division comprises Customer Remediation & Advocate, Citro, Strategic Sourcing, Bank GO Customer Success, Enterprise Customer Protection and workplace experience domains for AMP

This role leads the COO Strategy & Change function, acting as a true extension of the COO to integrate strategy, transformation, risk and governance across the Corporate Centre. It drives enterprise-wide initiatives and cross-functional transformation to improve organisational efficiency, performance and commercial outcomes, with a focus on revenue growth, cost optimisation, capital efficiency and risk reduction. Acting across multiple functions, the role leads complex priorities that are not always clearly owned, ensuring alignment and execution at an enterprise level.

The role also oversees prioritisation and delivery of AI and automation initiatives, ensuring aligned demand management and measurable value realisation across functions including Marketing, Finance, HR, COO and LRG. While not holding a direct budget, it plays a key role in shaping enterprise investment prioritisation and delivery decisions across the COO portfolio. This includes leading large-scale data, risk and operational efficiency initiatives that drive meaningful transformation outcomes across the enterprise.

How will you make an impact

  • Act as the COO’s strategic delegate, driving enterprise prioritisation, execution and performance across strategy, transformation, risk and governance.
  • Lead critical cross-enterprise programs delivering measurable commercial outcomes, including revenue growth, cost optimisation, capital efficiency and risk reduction.
  • Drive end-to-end transformation across Corporate Functions, leveraging AI and process optimisation to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
  • Oversee enterprise demand management, portfolio prioritisation and delivery governance, ensuring alignment to the highest-value initiatives and sustainable value realisation.
  • Act as a central integrator across business, technology and risk, resolving complex dependencies and enabling delivery within risk appetite.
  • Build and lead a high-performing Strategy & Change function, representing the COO and embedding a culture of accountability, execution discipline and continuous improvement.

What you will bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Strong understanding of financial services industry and regulatory regime
  • Risk management experience
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with senior executives to shape strategic decisions, prioritisation and enterprise outcomes.
  • Experience in strategy, consulting and/or enterprise transformation in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex cross-functional transformation, governance or strategic execution initiatives with divisional or enterprise-wide impact.

Who you are

You bring deep expertise in strategy execution, enterprise transformation and governance, with experience leading cross-functional programs that deliver measurable commercial outcomes. You are skilled in demand management, portfolio prioritisation and value realisation, and apply structured problem-solving to complex challenges. You also bring experience leveraging process optimisation, automation and AI to improve efficiency and effectiveness in a risk-aware environment.

You are a proactive and accountable leader who operates with a high degree of autonomy, using sound judgement and initiative to drive outcomes and remove barriers for others. You create clarity in complex environments, guide teams through ambiguity and set clear direction with an enterprise-wide perspective.

You are adaptable, resilient and outcomes-focused, able to respond to shifting priorities while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach. You build trusted and influential relationships across business, technology and risk, align stakeholders to shared goals, and lead high-performing teams through clear direction, coaching and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
