At Clayton Utz, we know better experiences at work create better outcomes for our people, clients and firm. We're looking for a senior leader to head up our Wellbeing & People Experience function, driving a whole-of-system approach to health and safety, wellbeing, and how our people experience work every day.
The role
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role leads across three integrated portfolios:
- Health, Safety & Wellbeing: incorporating physical and psychological safety, mental health, general wellbeing and psychosocial risk management.
- People Experience: incorporating employee listening, engagement, consultation, and culture.
- People Policy & Programs: incorporating employment terms, policies and award compliance.
You will set the strategic direction across all areas, using evidence and data to drive measurable, firmwide impact.
What you'll do
This is a role for someone who thinks systemically and acts decisively. You will:
- Lead the development of strategy across all three portfolios, ensuring each area reinforces the others and aligns with the firm's broader people and business priorities.
- Apply expertise in contemporary health and safety approaches, codes of practice and state-based legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Design and implement practical interventions that reduce risk and build organisational capability and culture.
- Support a dynamic people experience aligned to the firm's vision and values through ongoing employee consultation, engagement and communication.
- Stay abreast of changes in employment law and trends in people policy and practice, ensuring the firm is well-placed for emerging change.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership, contributing to firmwide strategy and leading aligned Board and management reporting.
- Lead a team committed to the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of our people.
About you
You are an experienced leader with a track record of leading and growing an integrated team. You bring:
- A whole-of-system perspective on health, safety, wellbeing, psychosocial safety, and people experience, with the ability to connect strategy to day-to-day operations.
- Strong command of the Australian regulatory landscape for work health and safety, including psychosocial hazard management.
- Demonstrated experience in data-led and evidence-based risk management and safety practice.
- The leadership presence and influencing skills to work effectively with partners, executives, and teams across a national firm.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to lead organisational change.
- A genuine commitment to creating workplaces where people are safe, well, and able to do their best work.
