Job Description
The Project
ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.
Project scope includes:
- Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
- Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
- Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway
In line with the above, ACCIONA is now looking for an Innovations Engineer to join the Western Harbour Tunnel Project. Focused on technology and innovation, you will be instrumental in integrating advanced tools, systems, and methodologies into our construction processes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-driven individual passionate about technology and process improvements to build a career at the forefront of construction innovation.
Specific Tasks Include
- Support the research, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies, software, and innovative tools
- Assist in developing solutions to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability in construction
- Conduct trials on the construction sites to assess the success of innovative solutions and quantify their benefits
- Compile comprehensive reports detailing findings, the status of each initiative, and their impact on the project
- Gather feedback from stakeholders and assist in optimising initiatives for company-wide adoption
- Provide basic training and support to team members adopting new tools or systems
Required Skills and Competencies
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar tertiary studies
- Strong interest in technology and its applications and a proactive desire to learn
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to track and interpret project data and outcomes
- Effective communication and presentation skills to engage with stakeholders and present findings
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with a focus on attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, maintaining a solution-oriented mindset
