As a Compliance Specialist, you will be a key member of the Governance & Accountability team, supporting the Insurance Administration Review and related Member Operations activities within the Member Domain. You will provide operational compliance support, assess issues and materials, identify compliance risks, and help stakeholders make informed, risk-based decisions. 


Your New Role (12-month MT)

In this role, you will work closely with compliance colleagues and stakeholders across the Member Domain to support consistent, practical and quality compliance outcomes. The Member Domain delivers on all aspects of the member, employer and adviser journey, including service, digital channels, marketing and communications, product disclosure, product design and distribution, guidance and advice, and member operations. 


Key duties include but not limited to;

  • Provide operational compliance support and perform compliance assessments to identify potential compliance risks and provide solution-based feedback and insights to stakeholders. 
  • Assess operational processes, business procedures, issue papers, remediation materials and member/adviser communications to ensure compliance with relevant superannuation, financial services, consumer protection, privacy and other legislation and regulatory guidance. 
  • Review insurance related operational documentation, process maps, business requirements, procedures, incident and issue papers, remediation artefacts, and member/adviser communications. 
  • Adhere to internal business rules and complete required compliance checklists as relevant to insurance related activities and operational compliance matters. 
  • Keep relevant records and ensure all documentation is kept in accordance with record-keeping procedures. 
  • Assist with incident and breach assessments as required and other compliance related tasks as requested.
  • Assist with practical communication, guidance and training to operational colleagues as relevant to their role, to support awareness of Member Domain compliance obligations. 
  • Assist with the development and implementation of appropriate systems, controls and processes to address operational requirements and comply with new legislation and regulatory guidance. 

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years’ experience in a compliance or similar role. 
  • 3+ years’ experience in a superannuation role that demonstrates a high level of knowledge about superannuation laws and associated regulatory requirements. 
  • Experience analysing and assessing the impact of legislative and regulatory change on operational processes, controls and member outcomes. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline. 
  • Strong knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks. 
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • High level of personal integrity as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters.
  • Ability to develop and maintain high quality interpersonal relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside the Fund. 
  • Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper. 
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes.
