Purpose of this role: 

We are seeking for an ambitious and energetic Internal Technical Sales Engineer who is customer-centric and a highly motivated professional looking to grow their career in Sales. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, a sharp level of business acumen, and an ability to interpret customer requirements and propose technical solutions with a hunger to win important sales for the business from Small to Medium contractors and channel partners and support our external Business Development Managers in both Power & Thermal products. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support relationships with customers in the end user, contractor and channel markets to generate sales in our small to medium sized product set of power, thermal and other Vertiv solutions.  
  • Prepare and review proposals to prospective clients
  • Follow up on quotes, tender submissions and client orders
  • Negotiate and win sales to achieve your sales targets 
  • Collaborate with our pre-sales engineering, supply chain, legal, finance, and service teams to ensure seamless customer experience. 
  • Provide basic technical product selections and advice to clients

Revenue & Sales Performance

  • Own and deliver against annual revenue targets, contributing directly to market share growth
  • Build and manage a high-quality sales pipeline with consistent, accurate forecasting
  • Maintain up-to-date opportunity records and pipeline data within the CRM platform

Solution Selling

  • Partner with solution architects and pre-sales engineers to develop tailored, customer-centric offerings
  • Lead the sales cycle from opportunity qualification through to deal closure
  • Position Vertiv's full portfolio to clearly differentiate against competitors

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with end-users, consultants, contractors, channel partners
  • Support and attend presentations, lunch-and-learns, and workshops with consultant and contractor communities
  • Act as a trusted advisor by understanding customer challenges and aligning solutions to their needs

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor market trends, industry shifts, and competitor activity across the VIC & TAS regions
  • Use customer insights and market intelligence to refine sales strategies and improve competitive positioning
  • Share relevant market feedback with internal teams & management to inform product and go-to-market decisions

Strategy Execution & Reporting

  • Execute sales initiatives in alignment with broader business objectives
  • Provide monthly updates on progress, pipeline health, risks, and recommended adjustments
  • Continuously improve sales processes and engagement approaches to maximise conversion rates and customer satisfaction

Process Improvement & Customer Experience 

Proactive use of Vertiv Operating System to enhance continuous improvement efforts. Continuously seek ways to enhance sales processes, engagement approaches, and customer interactions to maximize satisfaction and conversion rates.

WHS, Environment & Quality:

  • Comply with all WHS, environmental, and quality obligations, including when visiting customer sites
  • Actively promote a safe working environment and report hazards, incidents, or near-misses promptly
  • Participate in required safety training and initiatives

Practical Experience: 


  • High level of computer literacy skills. 
  • Ability to track opportunities and familiar with CRM tools
  • At least 3-5 years of experience within a sales environment
  • Previously had a sales budget and project pipeline to manage/keep track of

Education/Qualification:


  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have the right to live and work permanently in Australia

  • Ability to work under pressure and desire to succeed. 
  • Build relationships with clients quickly and care about customers interests
  • Clear and fluent verbal communication skills, great phone etiquette with ability to cold call to drive sales where required.
