Investment Analyst – Sydney

A unique opportunity for an Investment Analyst to join an established boutique investment team based in Sydney. This role suits someone who wants to build a career in Funds Management via the exposure to fundamental company research, working closely with the Portfolio Managers and a small, close-knit research team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support fundamental research across companies and industries, including financial analysis, valuation work, industry mapping, and due diligence that will ultimately deliver alpha for clients.
  • Contribute to the development of investment theses and help generate insights to support portfolio positions.
  • Build and maintain financial models to assess investment opportunities and risks.
  • Present research findings and ideas to the Portfolio Manager and be ready to explain and defend your thinking.
  • Help monitor portfolio holdings, industry developments, and market trends.
  • Engage with company management teams, industry participants, and external research providers.
  • Support Portfolio Managers with regular reporting requirements along with supporting the creation of presentation and marketing material.

About You

  • Ideally you will have 3–5 years’ experience in Australian equities research or investment analysis, with some diverse buy-side exposure preferred.
  • A relevant undergraduate degree (banking, finance, mathematics or engineering) and currently undertaking a postgraduate qualification (CFA or Masters) is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • An independent thinker who can form original views and is curious and analytical enough to stress-test and defend them.
  • Quantitative capability is advantageous. Practical project work using AI LLM’s or other database development tools (beyond Microsoft Office) is a genuine plus - we're interested in how you've applied these to real problems, not just familiarity with the tools.
  • Someone who will feel at home in a small, boutique investment manager environment - comfortable with autonomy, informality, and close collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
