Lead Business Analyst responsible for applying AI to business analysis, including prompt and agent design, tooling, requirements, and development handoffs. The role shapes and matures the Business Analysis practice, coaches analysts, improves delivery processes, and creates a structured source of truth for complex insurance product rules. It also involves analyzing migrations, rating logic, and cross-system business rules while facilitating workshops and communicating with technical and executive stakeholders.

BizCover is one of Australia's leading online providers of business insurance for small business. Within our Technology Delivery team, we've adopted an AI-driven approach to how we deliver, and we're now looking for a Lead Business Analyst to lead the way we apply analysis within it.

This is the senior role for Business Analysis at BizCover. It combines three complementary strengths: working hands-on with modern AI tools, shaping how the analysis practice operates and matures, and lifting the AI capabilities the growth of the analysts around you.

About the role

  • You'll remain hands-on in your craft, using AI to streamline how analysis is done  - designing prompts, agents and supporting tooling, and integrating analysis into the systems and repositories our teams work in. The goal is to move from a stakeholder problem to a well-formed set of requirements, tickets and development handoff more efficiently than traditional approaches allow.
  • You'll shape the direction of the Business Analysis practice: how it works, how it develops, and the quality of work it produces. A key part of this is developing the team - coaching analysts through real delivery and helping them build confidence with AI-assisted ways of working. You'll also partner with the Head of Technology Delivery on hiring as the team grows.
  • You'll have genuine influence over the analysis side of our delivery lifecycle, with scope to refine it thoughtfully, considering which artefacts add the most value, where steps can be simplified, and where human review is most beneficial.
  • One of the most interesting challenges in this role is product knowledge. Our products are genuinely complex, spanning more than 50 product lines, each with its own insurer-specific rating logic and coverage rules. Much of that knowledge currently sits across templates, application code and individual expertise. You'll help bring it together into a structured, versioned and reliable single source of truth that both people and AI systems can draw on, so that new requirements can be validated against established rules early in the process.
  • You'll also enjoy getting close to our more complex delivery work - such as migration considerations, rating logic and cross-system business rules  producing clear, well-tested analysis that both engineering and underwriting teams can rely on.

Requirements

About You

  • You bring strong analytical foundations, with experience across complex domain logic, established systems and regulated products, and a natural focus on producing clear, testable and traceable requirements. You may already have BA leadership skills, or be looking to step into the role.  Or you may be an individual contributor who is happy to share your knowledge and the tools you build with the team but would prefer not to be across the people management. The AI uplift of the BA practice is what we are looking for and we are flexible on the how.
  • You have a genuine interest in AI and hands-on experience applying it - including areas such as context engineering, agent design, tool use and validation - along with a practical understanding of where these tools work well and where human judgement remains essential. You enjoy experimenting and building, and you're comfortable working iteratively.
  • While you don't need to be an engineer, you're can read code well enough to sense-check your own requirements. You bring strong communication and facilitation skills, are able to run a workshop and engage confidently with senior stakeholders, and you lead in a way that others are happy to follow, sharing your knowledge generously.
  • You're at ease with complexity and enjoy finding structure within it, and you communicate credibly with both technical and executive audiences.

Desirable experience

  • Background in insurance or financial services; platform migration; building internal tooling or analyst enablement; knowledge-base or data-modelling work; and an interest in AI-assisted delivery.

Benefits

Why BizCover

  • You'll join an organisation with real enthusiasm for AI and a talented, engaged engineering team. We value momentum and are open to trying new ideas quickly, giving you the space to make a meaningful impact on how we work. There's genuinely interesting, complex work to be part of, and the opportunity to help shape how it's approached.
  • Our values guide how we work: Customer Fanatic, Drumbeater, Advancer, Finisher.
  • This role is based in Sydney with hybrid working arrangements

How to apply

We'd love to hear from you. Apply with your CV, and as part of the process we'll invite you to share an example of something you've built and talk us through your approach. There are no take-home exercises.
