Position Overview: Fractal is looking for a proactive and driven Lead Platform Engineer to develop, deploy, and maintain DevOps tooling and infrastructure that enables seamless software delivery systems. The ideal candidate will work closely with technical services, developers, and senior management while bringing expertise in cloud-native infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Leadership & Architecture:

Lead and architect GCP platform setup to support enterprise-scale data migrations
-
Design and implement secure cloud landing zones and infrastructure blueprints
-
Establish and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) best practices using Terraform
-
Define and implement enterprise-wide DevOps practices and frameworks
Security & Compliance:
-
Develop and implement comprehensive security frameworks for cloud infrastructure
-
Establish security controls and compliance monitoring systems
-
Create and maintain security documentation and practices
-
Implement and maintain identity and access management solutions
Infrastructure & Operations:
-
Design and implement robust monitoring and observability frameworks
-
Lead the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines
-
Architect and implement disaster recovery solutions
-
Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure costs
-
Automate infrastructure operations using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
-
Lead and mentor DevOps team members in best practices and new technologies
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of platform capabilities with business needs
-
Drive technical decision-making and architecture discussions
-
Provide technical guidance and support to development teams

Establish and maintain documentation standards for platform operations
Innovation & Optimization:
-
Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to improve platform capabilities
-
Optimize existing infrastructure and processes for better performance and cost efficiency
-
Drive continuous improvement initiatives for platform reliability and scalability
-
Research and propose solutions for complex technical challenges
Qualifications:
-
Minimum 10-12+ years of overall experience with 6-8 years specifically in DevOps / Data DevOps domain.

Extensive experience in designing and implementing cloud-native solutions, specifically on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Strong proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies:
-
Kubernetes ecosystem including Docker, Helm, and Kustomize
-
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
-
Configuration management tools like Ansible
-
CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins
-
-
Advanced programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and Go.
-
Demonstrated expertise in implementing and maintaining observability, monitoring, and security tools.
-
Experience in designing and implementing enterprise-level DevOps best practices and CI/CD workflows.
-
Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure technologies and their implementation at scale.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities with demonstrated experience in:

Pay:
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $180,000 - $200,000. In addition, for the current performance period, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.
