The Opportunity

An international organisation is seeking an additional lawyer to join its Sydney-based legal team, supporting operations across Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region.


Working closely with senior legal stakeholders, this role offers the opportunity to act as a trusted commercial advisor to the business, providing practical and strategic legal support across a diverse range of jurisdictions and business functions. The position will suit a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with stakeholders and balancing legal risk with business objectives.


The Role

This is a broad commercial role with exposure to a wide variety of legal and regulatory matters across the APAC region.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Advising the business on a range of commercial, corporate and regulatory matters
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements and business-critical contracts
  • Supporting procurement, sales, tender and business development activities
  • Providing risk-based legal advice to key stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions
  • Assisting with corporate governance, compliance and regulatory obligations
  • Supporting the management of licences, registrations and other regulatory requirements
  • Engaging and managing external legal advisers where required
  • Delivering training and guidance on legal developments and risk management initiatives
  • Contributing to legal process improvements and broader business projects


About You

  • Approximately 3-6 years' post-qualification experience
  • Experience gained within a reputable law firm, in-house legal team, or a combination of both
  • Strong commercial contracting and negotiation experience
  • The ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience supporting businesses operating across multiple jurisdictions will be highly regarded
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment


Experience within financial services, consumer products, insurance, telecommunications, technology or other regulated industries will be viewed favourably, although it is not essential.
