Reporting to the Legal Director, you will join as part of the Legal team in Sydney office, to provide high quality legal advice and services concerning the company’s legal rights, obligations, risks, and privileges.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts with customers, healthcare professionals, suppliers, and third-party intermediaries on behalf of the Company.

Provide legal advice in relation to claims, disputes, litigation, privacy, regulatory and competition law issues in ANZ.

Review of promotional materials to ensure compliance with advertising laws, regulations, and internal company guidelines.

Provide updates, presentations, metrics or reports to various Leadership Teams.

Keep current on legislative issues, statutes, decisions, and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies, compliance legislation and codes.

Actively participate in the creation and/or maintenance of the Legal Team internal and business facing Knowledge Management system.

Actively participate in Legal Operations activities including preparing and delivering training materials, internal marketing, digital signage, Legal Team profiling and events.

Actively improve team processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of the Legal Team.

Ensuring that ethical and corporate compliance obligations of Medtronic are met with respect to external requirements (MTAA/MTANZ Code of Practice, US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Anti-Corruption legislation) and internal requirements (Medtronic Code of Conduct, Business Conduct Standards (BCS), Risk Management System, and compliance related Corporate Policies, Procedures and Processes).

Provide assistance to the EurAsia Legal Team in relation to EurAsia projects and initiatives, when requested.

Work independently under limited supervision to determine and develop solutions to moderately complex problems.

Strong and respectful interaction and leadership is necessary with all levels of the Company’s sales, marketing, and functional teams.

Deliver and/or manage large projects as assigned and work with other stakeholders to achieve desired results while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education. Contribute to the completion of work group objectives, through building relationships and consensus to reach agreement.

Communicate with senior internal and external customers and vendors. Demonstrate an awareness of potential biases and intercultural issues and a willingness to address them. Listen closely and effectively. Ask clear and appropriate follow-up questions. Provide direct answers. Respond to clients promptly.

Encourage ethical behaviour at all times and protect the corporation from exposure and that would be generated if unacceptable risks are taken.
Required Knowledge and Experience:

A Australian or New Zealand Law degree and must have been admitted to any Australian State roll of legal practitioners and be eligible to hold an Australian State practicing certificate.

At least 5+ years PQE experience.

Experience in an in-house team in the pharmaceutical or medical device industries is preferred.

The ability to work effectively across geographic and functional boundaries.
