In this role, you’ll partner closely with Business Affairs, Finance, and Product teams to structure, negotiate, and draft complex licensing agreements with CMOs and music publishers. You’ll play a key role in shaping the legal frameworks that govern how musical works are used across Spotify’s service in APAC, helping enable innovation while supporting rights holders and creators.

What You'll Do

  • Provide clear, practical legal advice on music publishing, copyright, and licensing matters across APAC markets
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate agreements with music publishers and collective management organizations (CMOs)
  • Partner closely with Business Affairs and cross-functional teams to support commercial negotiations and strategic initiatives
  • Advise on legal implications of new product features, launches, and business models involving musical works
  • Help ensure compliance with contractual obligations, copyright laws, and local regulatory frameworks
  • Translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders
  • Contribute to scalable legal frameworks that support Spotify’s continued growth in the region

Who You Are

  • You are experienced in negotiating licensing agreements involving digital services, publishers, and CMOs
  • You have a strong understanding of the commercial dynamics of the music industry and digital platforms
  • You are comfortable working across multiple jurisdictions, ideally with experience in APAC markets
  • You communicate clearly and know how to simplify complex legal topics for a range of audiences
  • You can manage multiple priorities and operate independently in a fast-paced environment
  • You care about supporting creators and rights holders in an evolving digital ecosystem
  • You bring a collaborative, inclusive mindset and align with Spotify’s values

Where You'll be

  • This role is based in Singapore or Sydney
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.

At Spotify, we are passionate about inclusivity and making sure our entire recruitment process is accessible to everyone. We have ways to request reasonable accommodations during the interview process and help assist in what you need. If you need accommodations at any stage of the application or interview process, please let us know - we’re here to support you in any way we can.
