The wealth management business consists of three distinct brands in addition to Perpetual Private – Fordham, Jacaranda financial planning and Priority Life – offering a unique mix of wealth management, advice and trustee services. With a diverse range of capabilities including strategic advice on superannuation and retirement planning, general investment, asset protection, insurance, tax management, estate planning, aged care, social security, succession planning and philanthropy. Our clients include individuals, families, businesses, not-for-profit organisations and Indigenous communities throughout Australia. 

About the Role 

As Legal Counsel for Perpetual Wealth Management (PWM), you will provide high quality legal services, support and solutions to the PWM business, including traditional trustee services, Native Title and the fiduciary division.

This role is full time and based in our central Sydney office, at 123 Pitt Street.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing sound legal advice to business units, which is supported by the legal team, within agreed commercially oriented timeframes.

  • Instructing and managing external legal advisors, particularly for managing outsourced litigation.

  • Following through on queries and issues to ensure efficient resolution.

  • Working with internal stakeholders to review, negotiate and manage legal issues.

  • Maintaining up to date and relevant knowledge of legal developments which may affect the PWM businesses.

About you 

We’re looking for someone with: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in law and a current practicing certificate, or admission to practice as a solicitor in an Australian jurisdiction.

  • At least 2-3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained in an environment where there has been exposure to wills and estates. Litigation experience will be viewed favourably.
