We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Legal Counsel. This role will report to the Managing Counsel Finance Property Governance and Sustainability.
A bit about your role
As a Legal Counsel, you will provide expert legal advice that supports nbn's strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This is a unique opportunity to advise on legal matters supporting one of Australia's largest infrastructure networks, providing exposure to complex property, governance and commercial issues as part of a high-performing legal team.
You will work across nbn's national property portfolio, advising on a broad range of matters including leasing arrangements, property transactions, access agreements, co-location arrangements and general property advisory matters. You will also have the opportunity to support across the Finance, Property, Governance and Sustainability team’s portfolio including regional grants agreements, corporate governance obligations and corporate reporting.
This role will see you partnering closely with stakeholders across the business while managing complex legal issues, support negotiations and help deliver practical, commercially focused outcomes that balance legal risk with business priorities. Your ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice will help enable informed decision-making and contribute to the successful delivery of nbn's strategic objectives.
A bit about you
You are a qualified lawyer with approximately 5–8 years' post-qualification experience gained within a leading law firm and/or a corporate in-house legal environment. You bring demonstrated experience advising on property transactions, leasing or infrastructure-related property matters, together with an understanding of corporate governance frameworks and obligations.
You are comfortable navigating complex legal issues, balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes and providing practical, solutions-focused advice. A commercially minded lawyer, you build trusted relationships, communicate with clarity and influence, and work effectively with stakeholders across a large and complex organisation. With strong judgement, adaptability and a collaborative approach, you will contribute to a high-performing legal team while helping nbn deliver on its purpose of connecting Australia and shaping the nation's digital future.
