  • Assisting with corporate and commercial transactions including investments, fundraising, M&A activities, etc.
  • Support Marketing, RevOps and other internal functions with legal advice and guidance
  • Manage and advise on compliance with Privacy and GDPR frameworks
  • Understand, interpret and apply current laws to Propeller’s global operations and workforce
  • Handle or oversee legal disputes, including potential litigation or alternative dispute resolution
  • Stay vigilant and attuned to the evolving legal landscape. Keep your finger on the pulse of changing laws and regulatory requirements, and swiftly implement strategies to mitigate potential risks
  • Help shape and scale a growing legal function by improving processes, supporting business enablement, and balancing commercial outcomes with risk management

Requirements
  • Law degree, current Practising Certificate, and minimum 5 years’ PQE
  • Prior in-house experience, ideally in a venture-backed technology or SaaS business
  • Prior experience in high value complex commercial transactions - international and cross-border experience a plus
  • Experience or interest in GDPR including its principles, key provisions, and its impact on data protection and privacy
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and compliance landscape for AI tools and technologies in SaaS services and experience using AI in your day-to-day work
  • Pragmatic judgement, strong negotiation skills, and confidence making calls in ambiguous situations
  • Clear communicator and collaborative problem-solver, able to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders

Bonus points for:

  • Venture capital fundraising and capital markets
  • Working in a global company
  • Supporting a board of directors - governance, secretariat etc.

Benefits
  • Employee share options
  • Backed by one of Australia’s leading venture capitalists, Blackbird
  • Professional development budget and CPD leave
  • Mental health resources
  • Monthly telephone and internet allowance
  • Paid primary & secondary parental leave policies
