The role of Legal Counsel, reporting to the Group General Counsel & Chief Legal Officer is responsible for the administration of the Angle Auto Finance Legal & Regulatory Risk Management Framework, providing timely, accurate day-to-day general legal and regulatory advice across all internal Business Units.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities;

Core responsibilities;

  • Provide timely, accurate and commercially pragmatic legal advice and assistance to all Angle Auto Business Units, including all day-to-day project and transactional activities, under the direction and management of the General Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel.

  • Assisting the General Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel with all key legislative change and regulatory activities and all day-to-day interactions and requests for advice and assistance from the Risk & Compliance, Product, IT, People & Culture and Operations Teams.

  • Provide direct marketing overflow support to the Marketing Team (including management of external counsel as appropriate given the complexity/risk of the relevant matter).

  • Management of discrete aspects of the Angle Auto Legal & Regulatory Risk Management Framework (including the Trademark and IPR register and design and implementation of internal legal risk training and education).

Key Stakeholders;

  • C-Suite and Executives

  • Heads of Department

  • External Legal Panel

Qualifications;

  • Previous experience gained in a private practice legal environment or leading corporate environment essential.

  • Strong technical legal skills (particularly in asset finance) and ability to advise across all areas of the legal and regulatory landscape relevant to the internal Business Units. 

  • Pragmatic and practical with an ability to work successfully in a fast-paced agile environment and to navigate through a high degree of complexity and ambiguity.

Experience;

  • Broad experience in retail and/or wholesale asset finance (ideally with specific experience in auto finance).

  • Previous experience in providing NCCPA and National Credit Code advice, ongoing documentation review and compliance, complaints (including systemic investigations), hardship, breach issue management and reporting and voluntary/mandatory production activities) would be a strong advantage.

  • Experience in reviewing and advising on a broad range of third-party contracts, including service and supply agreements.
