Role Overview

Harvey's Legal Engineers in Custom Solutions are experienced lawyers who immerse themselves in the Harvey platform to design, build, and deploy tailored AI-powered workflows for the firm's most strategic customers in the Asia-Pacific region. Sitting within the Legal Engineering organization, this role partners closely with Account Executives, Customer Success, and Product to deliver high-impact implementations that drive deep adoption and measurable value for law firms and in-house legal teams across Australia and the broader APAC market. The Legal Engineer, Custom Solutions owns the end-to-end solution lifecycle — from scoping requirements through delivery — translating complex legal workflows into purpose-built Harvey configurations that solve real problems at scale. This is a rare opportunity to serve as the face of Harvey's Custom Solutions function in Sydney, working at the intersection of legal expertise, product depth, and client partnership in one of Harvey's fastest-growing markets.

What You'll Do
  • Work directly with lawyers at current and prospective customers to understand complex workflow challenges, scope custom solution requirements, and design tailored Harvey implementations that address them.

  • Build and refine custom workflows, playbooks, and product configurations within the Harvey platform, ensuring each solution is credible, scalable, and grounded in how legal teams actually work.

  • Partner with Account Executives and Customer Success to support post-sale adoption, change management strategy, and account expansion by delivering ongoing legal engineering value.

  • Act as the Voice of the Customer, translating legal workflow insights and user feedback into concrete product direction for Harvey's engineering and product teams.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Legal Innovation teams to develop Australia - and APAC-relevant content, use cases, and enablement materials that resonate with the region's legal community.

What You Have
  • Qualified to practice law in Australia with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal team.

  • Executive engagement skills and presence, with the ability to establish strong relationships with key decision-makers and build credibility at all levels.

  • Outstanding presentation skills to both legal and executive audiences, whether impromptu on a whiteboard or using product demonstrations.

  • Strong understanding of legal processes and workflows relevant to the Australia legal market, with curiosity about AI's potential to transform them.

  • Comfort operating at speed in ambiguous, fast-moving environments; excitement about building at an early-stage company where the ability to ship solutions and iterate quickly is rewarded.

  • Sales or customer-facing experience — including law firm business development, client secondments, or managing client relationships — is a strong plus.
