Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Level 3 VMWare Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sydney, Australia. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of our organization's VMware virtualization infrastructure.

  • Manage and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines
  • Perform VMware infrastructure upgrades, patches, and configuration changes
  • Implement and optimize storage solutions, including SAN and NAS technologies
  • Configure and troubleshoot networking components, such as VLANs, routing, and firewalls
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation and efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and support
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of virtualization best practices
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents as needed

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a VMware Engineer, with a strong understanding of VMware virtualization technologies
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python
  • Solid knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and networking concepts (VLANs, routing, firewalls)
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification is required
  • Additional VMware certifications (VCAP, VCDX) are highly desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred)
  • Experience in a large-scale enterprise environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of IT service management (ITIL) practices is an advantage
  • Familiarity with virtualization security best practices is beneficial
