As a leading energy company operating across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and from the United States, our work spans fuel supply, energy solutions, convenience retail, infrastructure, trading and shipping. We’re building a workplace where everyone feels welcome, respected, and valued - because when people are free to be themselves, powerful things happen.

About the role
We're looking for a commercially minded and analytically strong Lubricants Distributor Business Manager to help drive the growth and profitability of Ampol's lubricants business through our national distributor network. This is a unique role that sits at the intersection of sales, commercial strategy, pricing, forecasting and distributor management. Working closely with distributor partners and internal stakeholders, you'll be responsible for identifying growth opportunities, optimising product mix, maintaining margin performance and delivering sustainable business outcomes.

This position offers far more than a traditional sales role. You'll leverage data and market insights to influence commercial decisions, support distributor sales teams, manage pricing and forecasting activities, and help shape the future growth of the business.

The role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth, with a car allowance and fuel card provided. Regular travel is required across the distributor network, with visits to key locations occurring throughout the month.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with distributors to develop and execute sales plans that drive volume growth and profitability.
  • Analyse sales performance, market trends and customer insights to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Manage forecasting activities and provide regular updates to support supply chain planning.
  • Develop pricing recommendations and distributor offers in collaboration with internal pricing teams.
  • Drive premium product growth and optimise product mix across the lubricants portfolio.
  • Support distributor sales teams through coaching, training and customer engagement activities.
  • Monitor contractual, brand and compliance requirements across distributor partners.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver business objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in B2B sales, account management or business management within a technical or industrial environment.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience interpreting data, forecasting and identifying commercial opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, coach and build relationships across a diverse stakeholder group.
  • Experience managing distributor, channel partner or indirect sales networks is highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Engineering, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities across multiple locations.
  • Experience within lubricants, industrial products, engineering, manufacturing, automotive, equipment or other technical product environments will be highly regarded.

Benefits

  • Our total remuneration is competitive. This is across base salary, car allowance, a company performance incentive, employee share offers and a 25% discount on Fuel for two privately used cars!
  • We are flexible. Many of our teams have embraced hybrid work, balancing time spent remote working, with time spent at an office to connect and work together where it adds value.
  • Remote Working: Support for up to 3 months remote international working (conditional to 5 days paid leave for every 30 days of remote work).
  • We value recognition.  We have an internal recognition platform amplifying the achievements of those who do great work and demonstrate our capabilities and values.
  • Career development and learning opportunities including LinkedIn Learning and other tailored training solutions.
  • Baby Care Package - financial and flexible support for parents transitioning back to work.
  • Need some wheels? Novated Lease options are available.
  • Invest in your future with the Employee Share Scheme
  • Leave Options – Flexible leave options include annual leave, wellbeing and bonus days throughout the year and optional additional purchased leave.
  • Care for your Community. Spend one paid day a year volunteering with one of our Ampol Foundation partners.
