Job Description

We’re looking for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team on a 12-month maximum-term contract. This is a hybrid role based in Sydney, offering flexibility to work from home and 2 days per week in the office. 

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure across both Financial Control and Commercial Finance, supporting month-end reporting, reconciliations, financial analysis, management reporting, and budgeting activities. 

You’ll join a high-performing Finance team and play an important role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity and efficiency of key financial processes across the business. 

 

Your Role

Reporting to Finance leaders across both Financial Control and Commercial Finance, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Prepare and post month-end journals in accordance with accounting policies and reporting deadlines. 
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items. 
  • Prepare and review commission calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance with approved arrangements. 
  • Create, maintain, and enhance financial workpapers supporting month-end, statutory reporting and audit requirements. 
  • Assist with month-end close processes and variance analysis. 
  • Support internal and external audit activities, providing documentation and financial information as required. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency. 
  • Maintain and update financial models. 
  • Load and validate financial and operational data within reporting, forecasting, and planning systems. 
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting. 
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used in management reporting. 
  • Assist finance leaders with ad hoc analysis, reporting, and business performance insights. 
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes. 
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to support finance-related initiatives and reporting requirements. 

 

Your Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline. 
  • CA or CPA qualified, or working towards completion. 
  • 5+ years' experience in a Management Accountant, Commercial Analysis or Financial Accountant role. 
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes. 
  • Demonstrated experience preparing journals, reconciliations, and financial reports. 
  • Advanced Excel skills, strong analytical capability and problem-solving capability 
  • Experience working with ERP, reporting, and planning systems. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and commitment to accuracy. 
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently. 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
