Financial Crime Risk (FCR) is a Group enterprise function which sits within the ERM division and provides expert advice and is accountable for the effective management of financial crime obligations and emerging risks across the AMP Group including AML/CTF, Sanctions, Fraud and Scams, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) and foreign tax reporting (FATCA/CRS) domains
The Manager - Assurance, Financial Crime Risk is responsible for delivering independent Line 2 assurance over AMP’s financial crime framework, strengthening control effectiveness across AML/CTF, Sanctions, Fraud, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC), and FATCA/CRS
The role drives risk-based control testing, thematic reviews and remediation validation, providing objective challenge and actionable insights to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, including AUSTRAC expectations
Through data-led analysis and specialist judgement, you will identify control gaps, emerging risks and systemic weaknesses, enabling timely remediation and improved risk outcomes across the Group.
How will you make an impact
Financial Crime Assurance & Thematic Reviews
- Deliver a risk-based assurance program across key AML/CTF obligations and financial crime domains
- Design and execute control testing, thematic reviews and deep-dives across high-risk areas (e.g. CDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions, third parties)
- Lead end-to-end assurance reviews, from scoping and fieldwork through to reporting and stakeholder engagement
- Leverage data analytics and MI to enhance assurance coverage, identify anomalies and support continuous assurance
Regulatory Alignment
- Ensure assurance activities align with AUSTRAC guidance, legislative requirements and regulatory expectations
- Maintain obligations mapping to processes and controls, ensuring compliance through regulatory change
- Conduct compliance reviews and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen the control environment
- Partner with advisory teams to embed regulatory change into operational execution
Issue Management & Remediation
- Identify, assess and prioritise financial crime issues and control weaknesses
- Validate remediation actions and closure evidence, ensuring root causes are effectively addressed
- Track and report remediation progress, including delivery risks and residual exposure
Governance & Reporting
- Deliver high-quality reporting to senior management and Board/Board Risk Committees on assurance outcomes and risk themes
- Provide Line 2 oversight across governance forums, including FCCC and Risk Committees
- Ensure governance artefacts evidence effective oversight, escalation and accountability
- Support AMLCO and regulatory reporting, translating assurance findings into clear, risk-based insights
Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with Line 1, Financial Crime Operations and Internal Audit to deliver coordinated assurance outcomes
- Contribute to uplift of assurance methodologies, including data analytics and continuous controls monitoring
- Support capability uplift and strengthen expertise across the function
What you will bring to the role
- 5+ years’ experience in AML/CTF, financial crime assurance, risk, internal audit or consulting within financial services
- Strong understanding of AML/CTF frameworks, control testing, assurance methodologies and regulatory obligations
- Experience across banking, wealth or superannuation environments preferred
- Experience in control design, testing, governance frameworks and senior reporting
- Exposure to data analytics and reporting tools for assurance activities
Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Law or related field
- CAMS, accounting/auditing certifications or postgraduate studies in Risk, Accounting or Law highly regarded
Who you are
You bring strong technical financial crime and assurance expertise, with deep knowledge of AML/CTF obligations, financial crime frameworks and Line 2 assurance practices. You have experience designing and delivering risk-based assurance programs, including control testing, thematic reviews and end-to-end AML program components, and apply regulatory requirements in a practical, risk-based way using data and insight to assess control effectiveness and compliance outcomes.
You demonstrate strong execution and ownership, delivering complex assurance activities with a focus on quality, accuracy and timeliness. You proactively identify risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement, driving sustainable remediation in a fast-paced environment
You bring sound judgement and influencing capability, with the confidence to provide independent challenge and engage senior stakeholders. You translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights, supporting effective governance and risk-based decision-making across Line 1 and Line 2.
You are proactive, analytical and collaborative, with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset. You build credibility through expertise and consistency, working effectively across teams in a high-performance, fast-paced environment
